There seems to be a bit of confusion being caused by the fact that we are using Paypal as a method of payment for the shop and membership renewals on our website, possibly because people are not familiar with Paypal, and get thrown off track when they don't see the (in New Zealand) more common EFTPOS screen. So here's a howto for payment.First fill in the renewal or new membership form, whichever is appropriate.
Click the link at the bottom of this page, which will take you on to here:
in this screen you click on the option you want to pay for, then at the bottom of the form click the link that says, "View Cart". Doing that will take you to your "Shopping Cart" at Paypal.
Now, it is at this stage it appears that people are starting to panic, and bailing out, so our Treasurer and Membership Secretary are having to contact folk to sort out what happened to their payment. Paypal is VERY secure. There are urban myths contrary to this: myths is all they are.How do you know you are secure? The address in the address bar will start with https://, not http:// and older Firefox versions and good old Internet Explorer will display a padlock icon in the address bar. The padlock will be closed if the site is secure, and clicking on the lock will bring up a dialog box with information about the site's security.
Firefox 4 and Google Chrome will have a green button at the left of the address bar (and the https:// at the start of the address):

So, you are in Paypal's secure site, at your "Shopping Cart". Check what have in your Cart is in fact what you want, and if good, click the "Check Out" link, if not you can remove items or use the "Continue Shopping" link to correct things. The "Check Out" link takes you to this page:
If you already have a Paypal account, you are familiar with the rest of the story. If you don't have a Paypal account, you can still make a one-off payment using Paypal's system, very securely, and it is cheaper for BMWOR than if they continued to use EFTPOS. You can make your payment as you would with any other online credit card payment. The form does have a lot of fields to fill in, but these fields make it very easy for our Membership Sec and Treasurer to match the payment to the member, or for our Regalia Meister to send purchases to the right person in the right place.
