And another thing which really P*#^* me off is why when you get your bike serviced every 10,000km do you have to have an annual service done at the same time at another huge cost in addition to the regular service. ?I can understand that if a bike isnt used much and goes a couple of years between services, thats fair enough but when it is serviced around twice a year it seems to me that BMW are admitting that their service programme isnt up to scratch.

Isn't a computer a tool enabling them to do the job  so why charge extra for it ?

Just checked my invoice from October last year and it has on a $5 environmental charge, a  $25 computer charge and a $10 workshop consumerables goodness knows what that covers !!!!! you can buy a lot of rags for $10 !!!I let them know how P*&&%^off I was about the environmental charge which they said was for getting rid of all old oil so maybe they got the message and hid it somewhere else now.  😡

They do it already and call it an environmental charge.

in reply to: Safety recall #13973

I got a letter about this recall and I was told that for my bike it was so they could fit stickers to the inside of the handguards warning you to make sure the guards didnt rub on the brake or clutch levers which could wear out the brakes or clutch prematurely.Next will be a sticker asking you to hold onto the handlebars when riding !!!!  😕

You tell em Dean, what about the charge to get rid of your old oil and filter when they sold it to you anyway ???  🙄 and then probably onsell the old oil to a refining company too.

in reply to: Chrome plating #13909

I posted a reply last Friday Malcolm but had to leave it halfway through (work you know !!!) and finished it a couple of hours later but obviously it is lost in ciberspace.Basically I met up with a friend of mine who is a chemist specialising in electroplating chemicals and he said that a duplex system is the best and in his opinion the top guys are Wanganui Electroplaters  or Gisborne Electroplaters who both use this system. There is also Otahuhu Electroplaters who use a single system which in his opinion isnt as good.I did have names of contacts but cant remember them (age you know) and also Gisborne Electroplaters are also under another name now.I have no doubt google will be your friend but if not let me know and I will give my friend a call.Jim
