Jimin reply to: Canadians Biking Through NZ #5670Hi George and Margo,
Let us know closer to the time when you arriving and what your plans are as I'm sure we could arrange to meet you at the airport if required (thats if you are arriving in Auckland) and give you any assistance or help you want.
Look forward to meeting you and rest assured you will have a great time in NZ.
Cheers
Jimin reply to: South Island Tour, Flock Hill and back #5671Great pics Alex, will look forward to more and hearing about your trip.
Hope others on the rally do the same.
Jimin reply to: Stolen Bike #5667Will certainly look out for it, it’s pretty distinctive and will be easy to spot if it’s still on the road.
There are some bad B%$*^$ around eh ?in reply to: 2 auf Weltreise #5660We are doing Arne’s last ride of the year tomorrow, (Saturday) possibly to Waihi, and if it’s like last weeks ride it will be great.
Leaving BP Papakura at 9.30am hope to see you there.
Jimin reply to: Rain-X or similiar, does it work? #5626Oh and forgot to mention, I find that at slow speeds they don’t seem to work as good as you need a bit of momentum to make the rain bead up and run off.
in reply to: Rain-X or similiar, does it work? #5625Hi Alex,
I have been using a similar product "Rain Away" windscreen rain repellent, of which I was fortunate enough to get a sample of from the Airforce on my system 4 visor.
Works pretty good but would not recommend using this or any similar product on the inside of your visor due to the anti fog coating.
I have used "plex"in the past and found that to be ok too on the outside of the visor.in reply to: Is This The Future Motorcycle Helmet ? #5624Be quite handy if someone shoots you off the bike !!! 😉
in reply to: A San Franciscan in New Zealand. #5607Sounds good to me !!!!
in reply to: A San Franciscan in New Zealand. #5603Not a problem Jon, we have guys on other bikes too, the common bond is two wheels and a love of riding. 🙂
in reply to: A San Franciscan in New Zealand. #5598Not a problem, look forward to meeting you.
As a matter of interest, if you like motorcycle racing, Paeroa, a small town about 150km from Auckland has the "Battle of the Streets" races on Sunday the 19th Feb, very exciting, all classes of bikes including sidecars racing through the main streets of a small town.
Not to be missed.
Jimin reply to: A San Franciscan in New Zealand. #5596Hi Jon and welcome to the BMWOR website.
Where are you flying into Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch ?
I am sure that if you give us your details closer to the arrival time we can organise someone to meet you, and as its a weekend you arrive we will be riding and can show you some good roads.
7 days isnt very long to tour NZ and yes the South Island is great for riding but so is the North Island so the choice is yours, as much depends on where you fly into.
Afraid I cant help much on the bike hire scene apart from Kea Rentals but perhaps some others can.
Look forward to meeting you if you are in Auckland.
Regards
Jimin reply to: Only just got here but need to ask about leaving #5593Hi Harvey,
Hope you enjoyed your trip up north and the weather was good to you.
I havent got any recommendations for getting a bike to Aussie but one of the guys in the club (Wayne) did it last year and I dont know if he gets on the website but I have his email address and will ask him if he has any tips etc. and will post it here unless Wayne does it himself.
We have another friend touring NZ from Germany, Bernd Hausler who is currently in NZ and who has come on a few rides with us so if you come across a R1100GS with Touratech panniers and Bernd wears a red suit please introduce yourself, as he is a real nice guy. ( that also goes for any members throughout NZ)
I was telling him about the Wanganui street races on Boxing day too, and as he is booked on the ferry to the South Island on the 27th he may come to the races also.
We have a BMWOR ride on Sunday the 18th December leaving from BP autobahn on the northern motorway near Albany at 9.00am so if you are free hope to see you there, if not have a great Christmas and ride safe.
