in reply to: Accessories?????? #6951
If you import anything in you are liable to be charged GST on the item, but this usually depends on the value of the products whether customs charge you or not.The only time I have been charged was when the items were more than $1000, all other times I have been lucky.if you buy stuff overseas you are not liable for the local taxes so you should ask for them to be deducted when you buy the item and this offsets the cost. ie British VAT is 17.5% so you should have this deducted off the price of the item.
in reply to: Accessories?????? #6947I too have tried many of the US dealers with no luck or even the courtesy of a reply apart from BMW of North Houston who gave excellent service and backup to check if I was satisfied with the pants and liner I bought from them. Shipped US postal service as detailed below with no problems."We do send to New Zealand and usually use the US Postal Service,as I have found this to be the cheapest way to ship overseas. I wouldguess that it would run somewhere between $40 - $60 for shipping butcannot confirm until I have actual weight of merchandise. Keep in mindthough that there would be no sales tax, which would help defer theshipping charges.Let me know what you would like to do. Thank you for taking thetime to visit our website.Best Wishes,Lisa M. in reply to: GS1200 or GS650 ? #6970Hi and welcome to the forum.Yes they are entirely different bikes and having had a Dakar 650GS, 1150GS and now a 1200GS and loved them all in different ways, I would never go back to a 650GS, but that is only my personal opinion. If you are intending to use them like a dirt bike, remember they are very heavy and you will not be able to go where a trail bike does, so they are suitable for gravel and easy dirt roads only, unless you have very good off road skills. My advice to you would be to try both of them out for a day or so if your dealer will allow you.The 1200GS is an extremely easy and capable road bike to ride and will eat up the Km's also as many sport bike riders have found out it has great handling in the twisties.Have fun ChoosingRegardsJim

in reply to: getting back into it… #6917Hi Stu,There is a BMWOR run this Sunday, meeting at BP Papakura (The Autobahn) the service station on the southern motorway at 9am for a 9.30am departure and you are very welcome to join us even though not a member yet.It would be a good chance to meet some of the guys and gals for a ride.I believe it is going round the Coromandel but quite a few of us will be leaving the ride around Thames to go to the Paeroa street races and you are also welcome to join us there.Hope to see you Sunday.RegardsJim
