To people who are going to join this event, I strongly advise NOT to use their ONLINE Registration. You enter all your credit card details on the page but that page is NOT secure (https) and therefore there is a high risk that your credit card details may be stolen.I will email the organiser to inform them of the security issue.

in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5225Hi Svein,You are welcome 🙂I know Swanson since 1991 and even since then, it changed lots.I think that the whole of Auckland has dramatically changed in the last 15 years. There are still many paddocks along Tram Valley Road but I saw that many town houses and terrace houses were built along the rail way in Ranui. The backyard of those houses face to the railway with just a wire fence between their backyard and the rail way.You can come to NZ and see where you spent your childhood.I understand that it may be a long way but if you come here in January, February, you can escape from your freeing weather and throughly enjoy summary weather and riding in NZ 😆
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5222This one is taken in Tram Valley Road in 1955/56 when I used to live there. I suppose its all gone by now, but if it still stands, or the remains of it, I would be ever so grateful for a photo. It can't be very far from Swanson as we used to walk to school. Right hand side of the road , seen from Swanson.
Hi Svein,I went to the Waitakere Ranges with my partner for bush walking today. So, we drove past Tram Valley Road to take some pictures for you 🙂Tram Valley RoadLooking at railway from Tram Valley RoadLooking down Swanson from Tram Valley RoadI printed your photo of the house to take with me but we couldn't find any house that looks like it. I took photos of three houses (No. 11, 15 and 17) on Tram Valley road.It is hard to see the houses because I couldn't take good pictures of the houses without intruding into their private property 🙁The house at No.11The house at No.15The house at No.17There wasn't any house at No.13. May be the number was not used for superstitious reason? There are several houses at the end of Tram Valley road but I couldn't see any houses without driving up the private drive ways.I also took some pictures of Swanson township.Swanson school Swanson shops next to the schoolSwanson shops opposite to the schoolSwanson railway station has upgraded significantly in last few years and the railway station is opened as a cafe. The railway station was moved there from Glen Eden about a decade ago. The cafe was closed today for the New Years day.Swanson railway stationSwanson railway station building (also the cafe)The railway is now double track, or almost as the second track is under construction and the double track stops at the Swanson railway station for now, as the photo shows.Swanson railways (double track!)Swanson railway (the end of the double track)
in reply to: Taupo Track Day 30th Nvember #8805I want to ride the new Taupo Track, as I've ridden the old track only (and only twice).I can't easily make a commitment to attend the Taupo Track day because I will need to stay overnight.I am not an early bird like you 🙁 and I need to get to Taupo the day before the Track day.
Congratulations for publishing the book! 😆I used to look at your blog until you stop updating it 👿I can't understand German but I enjoyed your photos, as they were always so beautiful.I wish I can read German 🙁You must be a talented writer as well as a good photographer. The German food that you introduced me (Leberkäse : liver cheese) is my favorite food now 🙂
in reply to: AKL Lunch Ride to Cambridge Dec 2 #8555I must be slow typist, as Alex has replied while I was typing this… 🙁Never mind, I post this anyway. This is the URL of the cafe.http://www.theboatshed.net.nz/pagefiles/menu.htmlI'm not sure what time people will meet at BP Papakura.Depends on how long you would like to ride before lunch and some people may ride to Tahuna to meet another member.Jim, will you organise the ride?I will go to Experience on Saturday but I haven't decided what time.I won't join to the Toy Run this year.
in reply to: AKL Lunch Ride to Cambridge Dec 2 #8551Hi Alex,I am confused if this ride is lunch ride or club ride. This post says it is club ride (meet at BP Papakura to depart together) but the November Newsletter says it is lunch ride (meet at the Boatshed Cafe in Cambridge).Usually, the first Sunday is lunch ride. Are we going to meet at BP Papakura?I guess that it doesn't matter too much.People who don't read this forum will get to the cafe by themselves while people who read this forum will ride together to the cafe 🙂
You'd better email to the Nelson Area Rep.I don't think that he is using this Forum as his email address is not registerd. He emails me event information and that is why I enter the event on his behalf. Please see the newsletter or https://www.bmwmc.nz/contactus.php for his email address.
in reply to: AKL Register Ride to Tutukaka Nov18 #8547Found some info about the “Greens Restaurant”.http://www.discovertutukaka.co.nz/eat.htm(The top one)It doesn't have the street address. Also, they open only from 6 PM during winter, so, perhaps, you'd better call them to ask if they open for lunch or not and get the street address.
in reply to: Rain-X or similiar, does it work? #5655Hi Peter,Can I have the wholesale contact for the product, please?
