in reply to: Power Plug?? #7751
I got spare 'BMW' sized plugs and sockets from Western Auto for the plugs electrical for the sockets and in Henderson at a fraction of the BMW price. Go to hella.co.nz and click on 'resellers' for a list of dealers. Part numbers are 4918 for the sockets and 4914 for the plugs
in reply to: Rocker Bolt Welding #7723I think I'd go as far as disconnecting the ABS module too! The cost of frying one is horrendous!
in reply to: I’m sorry, you can’t ride your bike #7678I don't think it's a ban on riding a bike TO work, but work related riding, ie travelling to meetings etc using a bike. As ever, it's a liability thing, employers and their insurers are afraid of being held responsible in the event of an accident. Typical of the american/british claim culture I'm afraid. I had a similar issue with my employer in the UK, they were VERY reluctant to let me use my bike to go to meetings etc. Also an image perception, although I've always found it to be an advantage, at least people remember you when you turn up on a bike rather than another repmobile! When I was being interviewed for my job here in NZ, I asked if it would be ok to use my bike to go to meetings etc, my boss looked at me like I was mad, and said 'I don't care if you ride a fcuking elephant!' Typical kiwi, no nonsense approach!
in reply to: Are cycle spedo’s legal? #7643The Vapor will certainly pass the WoF. It has a permanent backlight. The only possible fail point for a cycle type one is the lack of permanent illumination at night. That was always a potential problem in the UK, what the rule is here, I don't know. Try the Kiwirider forum perhaps?
in reply to: Are cycle spedo’s legal? #7639I had one on my GasGas, wonderful bit of kit! Well made, seems utterly reliable. Best source is via the States, I got mine from http://www.dunesport.net/ very helpful, way cheaper than here, in fact, I'm not sure you can get the vapor here yet, only the Endurance I think. I would like to put one on the KTM, but I can't see an easy way to replace the warning lights for oil pressure etc from the stock dash.cheersTony
in reply to: Staintune exhaust for R1100S #7631Jonno,Have a look at this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=4e8c39267da257cef82bce4610656618&threadid=344001 it mentions a main stand bump stop on a Staintune zorst, so looks like my fuddled memory is correct!
in reply to: Staintune exhaust for R1100S #7630Try a google search for 'boxertrix' a very active and useful UK forum specifically for 1100S's, someone on there will know. I would think you're only possible problem might be a lack of a bump stop. The staintune has one for the side stand, but not sure how the mainstand works, as I didn't have one on my S. Do have a vague recollection of cutting a spare bracket off my Staintune, which may have been a mainstand stop!
in reply to: K1200GT lights #7461Try Nippy Normans in the UK. Good range, good service.
in reply to: Gel Battery #7351Can't help with the battery, but I know Experience in Auckland have special police versions of the HT coil/plug caps in stock, couple of dollars more than a standard one, no apparent difference in performance, I'm guessing better noise suppression?
in reply to: Ceramic exhaust coatings #7279Had the headers on the Monster done recently, very pleased. John, I'll send you some pics soon!
in reply to: Accessories?????? #6952The full story on GST is that customs will only charge it if the GST bill is more than NZ$50, ie landed cost of package (including postage, insurances etc) exceeds NZ$400. Worth 'massaging' the value to keep below the threshold, until the adjustment gets to the point of hurting the insured value too much!
in reply to: Tyres for 1150GS #7060Metzler Tourance, no competition! Superb on seal, more than adequate on firm gravel.
in reply to: Accessories?????? #6946Try motorworks.co.uk, excellent service, no hassles.
