in reply to: Internal Sun Visor Mechanism Failure System 6 #19057
Take it back for a goodwill claim, should last longer than 3 years for a $1200 lid . None of mine have failed yet . Some have failed in the UK according to UKGSER. Was on tour and whe had a guy with a Schberth C3 fail. He pulled it apart and fixed it some how. Maybe it's the cold winter down south.Ya might have to use the new lid instead of keeping it in the bag. Janine got Her new System 6 evo, She is very happy with it.
Is there such a thing as a goodwill claim?
in reply to: Headlight Alignment #19034Thanks for the input folks.I'll condense all these suggestions and do whatever appears to make sense.
in reply to: Headlight Alignment #19029Hi DaffyI think your headlight is fixed to the bike and the lens floats inside on gimbal. The gimbals move to allow aiming the light output. It has been known that the plastic gimbal ends come out of their socket.Perhaps you have this problem? The only way to check is to remove the access port and look in the back. You'll have to remove the light.Ralph
I think that gimbal thing started with the LC. Mine is the last of the DOHC models.I'm thinking it's an alignment issue. If I knew how it was all assembled I'd put some washers in to Male the whole assembly down.
in reply to: Headlight Alignment #19027Samesame, Daffy, with my '13 R12RT. Just seems these twin headlights are veryveryVERY bright, no matter where you aim them. There are a number of forum comments along the lines of 'these are the best OEM motorcycle headlights...ever...'. I'm heading into Motomart on Wed to have another go at headlight alignment, so will let you know how I get on.Until then, 'Check it out, two moons! https://vimeo.com/26407263
I still quote that ad from time to time.Let me know how you get on. I am sick to death of the High beam spotting possums and getting flashed even on low beam.
in reply to: Other motos in your ‘stable’? #19042I'm actually finding it really hard to post photos on here.Still.R1200RT as my work bike.Adly Silver Fox 49 cc as my fun bike.Just sayin.
Thanks Daffy - the RT as a member of the Constabulary? As for your scoot - I hadn't heard of them - they look like fun - cheers S
No longer. I was a motorcycle Sgt and trainer until the bureaucracy got to me.Now I'm a motorcycle instructor with one of the local Ride Forever training contractors. I love my RT as a work bike.

in reply to: Series 6 helmet with Motorrad Intercom #19019Just to add a bit of context, I fitted an old Cardo Q2 to a spare helmet today. It's been gathering dust in my garage. The Q2 is maybe 7 or 8 years old. It has an inbuilt FM radio, one reason why I loved it enough to buy it.But the sound quality is awful compared to both my Sena and the new Motorrad kit. It's all relative. I rate my Motorrad as a 9/10. The Sena SMH10R is an 8. And the old Cardo Q2 is a 5 at best.First world problems.
in reply to: Headlight Alignment #19022The RT is a dual low beam isn't it? That would likely explain part of it, you've got a lot of light that's concentrated. Also, have you pulled the bulbs and checked? Along with regular bulbs you can also get uprated ones, +50, +100 etc. (availability depends on the size, ie, H4 has more options than H7) but you can also expect a reduced life from the uprated bulbs.
Yes, dual low beam, and the one in the middle is the high beam.Pulling the lamps is like pulling wisdom teeth. It's a mission. Maybe I should check that someone hasn't inserted lamps from the Soyuz 11.
in reply to: Series 6 helmet with Motorrad Intercom #19018Hi Daffy - How much was the BMW Communication kit?
Retail is $850. It's fair to say that I didn't pay retail though. If you do buy one, remember that the battery comes as a separate part. Strange. It's not like anyone would want one without a battery.
in reply to: Canbus issues with led spotlights/lightbar #19012Hi, don't know if this is of any use, but on my '04 there is an unused wiring block cable tied up on the l/h side of the steering head just forward of the tank, I have been told you can run extra items off this without affecting the Canbus system.
Thats startard on any GS or RT I've had. I believe it's for a Nav system. My 2013 RT has the aftermarlet spots hooked to it, as well as a Nav V system. When I turn the key off the system can now take up to 10 min to shut down. I think it's the extra lights which have caused that.Gremlin is a Gold mine of information on electrics. Respect.
in reply to: Series 6 helmet with Motorrad Intercom #19016So Daffy Your new helmet must of arrived , picked up a gray System 6 with the Comms installed must get around to finding a charger for it and trying it out. On the to do list.
It's been a mission Richard but the local dealer has been chasing it on my behalf. I must try pairing it with my Sena to see how it goes.I didn't have high expectations. Nice to be pleasantly surprised. You get your recall sorted?
in reply to: BMW Sport Helmet Recall #18884UpdateBMW are going to give me a new Series 6 Evo to replace my Sport Helmet. My Bluetooth kit can be adapted to my new Series 6.The kicker is it is on order and won't be here until May. Apparently the courier is a slow walker.
I think of it as the thinking man's bike. Sometimes when I'm thinking I go “Errrrrrr……”.Just sayin.

in reply to: Thoughts on R1200RT, R1200R, with luggage #18678Sense prevailed, and I'm going to do a few months on my RT.When it hits 100000km I'll be looking at a G'S with a touring screen.
