Mate You are right the bottom link is moved about 10mm closer to the engine than standard to get a bit more ground clearance under the engine. The rear swingarm is down alot further than a standard model can ever be. In the photo it is just hanging there. I am looking at getting 250mm travel out of the rear end. The back wheel will be sitting about 85mm when I am sitting on it so should be in the sweet spot.boGSerHave a look at this I could still go further

Doesn't mean much unless we know figures Alex.  I'm talking $800 to insure three bikes worth a total of $31000 with JB.  I should be interested if your company could drop $300 off that so perhaps I should give them a call.

Malcolm dont right one of those bikes off you will end up paying more in premiums for 2 bikes than you did for 3. I dont think I like this policy. I would be interested to know if anyone with multiple bikes on seperate policies has had a right off does it affect the other policies and by what amount.boGSer

Better bookmark the news feeds then.  I honestly don't know where we are going to end up with this.  At the moment we are exploring the zero dollar option to fix some problems, without spending more member dollars.More to follow - I'm too busy spending my time trying to fix immediate problems to say more now.

Bwucie I appreciated the work that you do on behalf of the register but after reading the latest newsletter it sounds like you are doing more than your fair share. Wasn't your initial sign up to do maintenance and moderator sounds like you have gone way beyond the bounds of the original brief. You get my vote to throw some money at it.My remark was about the RSS feeds which means you can see the latest discussions without having to go to the Forum pageboGSer

Alex, yes I hope it is strong enough. That was the plan I didn't mind sacrificing some weight for the extra strength After all I dont want any parts to fall to bits on me. All the flat surfaces are made from 3mm plate. The bottom pivot area is hollow of course. I am going to make a tank that fits inside the frame above the gearbox I have already made one out of custom wood and taped it together put a plastic bag in it and it will hold 15 Liters in there and I am planing on fitting the YZ tank on top which will hold another 7 Litres I am trying to keep all the weight as low as possible. Basicly that is the main frame finished Just a rear subframe to sit on and hold the mufflers (1100S) up.Just had a measure up on the old YZ frame foot pegs to top of the seat 570mm thats what I am aiming for foot pegs to ground 400mm me sitting on it should be around 850-870mm around about. Being able to touch the ground is over rated.boGSer

I don't understand why people buy brand new bikes and then head off into the unknown. If it was me I think I would be buying a bike and putting a few thousand Kms (20,000) on it before I went anywhere. As we know factory production an't as good as it used to be. Best get the gremlins out before heading into the unknown and get a better understanding of how the particular bike you choose rides under different conditions before you leave home. Also learn how to do minor repairs and servicing before heading off.  Shit a GSA loaded for a world trip is going to be bloody heavy and if your not planning on off road adventures then the only advantage is the extra fuel. Would be better with the GS and 60Kgs lighter less wear and tear on tires suspension etc etc.boGSer

In an attempt to eliminate an intermittent fault in (a) windscreen operation & (b) in engine failure while out on a run,  I want to pull apart and clean all the connectors I can find, starting with the windscreen.    Can anyone please tell me how the male pins can be removed - and how the wires are attached to them?  I can see that terminals are crimped to the wires, but can't see how the terminals are secured to the back of the male pins.  Hopefully, the attached pix will clarify the problem.

Bryan, have a look at this link the plug looks the same as the hall sensor on an 1100. It shows you how to make a tool to remove the round pins from the holder. Page 12 on hope it works for you.http://users.rcn.com/dehager/service/oilhead_hall_sensors.pdfGood luck with that.boGSer
