in reply to: Tyres & the Cruiser #7596
I ended up getng Bridgestone – as before. Boith tyres were available for the moment, but I wouldn't want an urgent situation!
in reply to: Rusty Nuts Southern Cross Rally #7659I was at the ferry terminal to see the bikes, there were quite a few! They arrived in dribs and drabs, and all were quite enthusiastic. It's hard to be there on your way to work! sigh. Maybe next year.Don't get a Cruiser, Dick, you be filling up the tank every 200 k's or so. Especially if you don't know the area for fuel stations.
in reply to: Are cycle spedo’s legal? #7637I can put you on to an instrument tech who is good. (Owns a bmW) in Upper Hutt. Catch me off line.
in reply to: noooby the newbie member #7477Welcome aboard. Check out the newsletters and you can see when the Christchurch branch have a monthly meeting. I know they would love to see you turn up at a meeting. And you don't need to be on a BMW if youre doing a trade-in! When you travel in a group, you know you you are going to be looked after. may get to meet one day! Dave
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5191Sure, it counts. But where is it?
in reply to: Gun Trophy – widen the scope? #7579We (civilisation) are moving along in technical leaps and bounds, and changes are always evolving. Our Register now has a web site: something new. Perhaps it is time to introduce awards in the web page area. That would help to stimulate viewing. How about "Best Introduced Thread Idea." (Taken by membership vote,) or "Author of most Popular Thread" (That is, most replies and participation.) ...For starters.
in reply to: K1200GT lights #7460Maybe check the Internet for after market and lighting accessories for the K1200. I'd imagine with a low volume bike like that the question needs to go to the big world!
in reply to: Gun Trophy – widen the scope? #7572My two cents worth:As immediate past editor, I made it my point to stay out of the forum. I intended to keep the newsletter, unsupported by items that appeared on the web site. Some members don't have an internet connection. Some don't register here. The amount of writing in most of these threads is quite small compared to a submission to the newsletter. A lot of a thread content is followed up by other people. Would everyone share the trophy?I think the point raised here is a very good one and deserves some attention and discussion.Maybe there is room for a new trophy to be introduced. This web medium is a whole new ball game, so why not new awards to go with it ?
in reply to: Could this photo be the new HP2 #7337Now a post has been put up named, “New BMW Supersports”, that is what this bike has got to be.So No it's not the new HP2.
in reply to: New BMW superbike #7476Now that is something else! My lotto was going to get me a R1200S, but now I have to re-evaluate the situation.Like the saying goes, "...if it looks fast, it is fast!' When will it end? BMW have been surprising us since the launch of the first 1200, (not counting the Cruiser [good ole Cruiser!] ) and still they keep coming...... .
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5177Tharon, If the bikes not in; there's no photo! Here's a challenge for you: Find the most Southern abandoned house.
in reply to: Bike insurance #7286When my last bill came in for JB insurance I checked out another company well know to us (BMWOR) and did some comparisons. While the JB inv oice was a little higher, the add-ons and the benefits made it a better deal. John is loyal to the Register, and for me that counts for a lot."Better the devil you know, than the one you don't know."
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5174This house is on State Highway 2 also; not too distant south from the wetland aea under restoration at Peka Peka. (Which is about 25-30 k's south of Hastings.) Some years ago there was a car parked on the left side of the building. A Chev Fleetmaster or similar. This house has been the subject of art too. I have seen a painting of it in a local art shop.
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5172And the neighbouring house is a really old colonial cottage:
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5171South of Hastings is a small Maori settlement called Te Hauke. I have seen these houses many times and seen them slowly deteriate. Captured before they are lost. This one looks about 1930's style:
