in reply to: Rag Rally on a tank of gas #16513
Good to hear you all had a good time at the RAG Darryl. A great turnout of older models too, some looking very smart from your pics. Sorry we missed this year but we had a memorable run down to the air show and saw some interesting older machines as well as some stunning flying displays. This venerable old outfit played its part in the air attack on the ground troops. Some of the other old machines strutting their stuff:And the sun was so strong that they had to protect the surface of this old thing with newspapers.
in reply to: New Newsletter #16531Now there's a great idea. Why not alternate years - Palmerston North/Palmerston (Otago). Currently living in the Manawatu and originally from Otago I would be more than happy to have an excuse to take the bike across the ditch.
I think Robin's tonge in cheek comment has merit! Why not alternate between the two islands? If you timed the AGM in the South to coincide with the Bert Munroe then I have no doubt that there would be a reasonable North Is contingent turn up!
As capable and helpful as he is I doubt that Barry would be able to organize an AGM and a Rally every second year. Not sure who else down there would put their hand up? Talking of the old farts club though, we have just returned from a couple of weeks down south and spent a very pleasurable time in Nelson catching up with some long time aquaintences. Ulysses spend little time on the AGM and more on fun and it may be a consideration for the Register if at any time in the future we start to alternate our AGM.
in reply to: GIVI TREKKER HARD LUGGAGE #16128Yes I'm more than a little frustrated and may well end up ordering from Motoworks. In the meantime a holiday is looming and it looks as if we will have to take the C and cut down a little on luggage.
in reply to: GIVI TREKKER HARD LUGGAGE #16126I ordered them through Colemans Suzuki. Unfortunately they haven't arrived yet!!! Been a real saga ending last night with a call from the importer in Christchurch to say their order had finally arrived but no Trax pannier kit for the GS. He was to speak with SW in Germany last night and I await his call.
I feel much better after reading your saga Bruce. I ordered a Trax pannier kit for the GS well over a month ago. They said 2/3 weeks delivery. After 3 weeks no word so called, “sorry industrial action at Frankfurt airport” after 4 weeks “sorry they were loaded on an oversize pallet and couldn't get on the plane”. After 5 weeks “sorry stuck in Singapore should be in ChCh on 21st” If they don't get here then we'll have to take the other bike to Wanaka. Ah well at least the rain might have stopped by then :-Update 4.26pm same day. Just got home to an email saying SW Motech order has arrived in ChCh but no Trax pannier kit for F800gs >:( Watch this space....
in reply to: I need advice on my unhealthy addiction! #16410Wow, do they send you a pipe and a pair of slippers with it Neil 😉
in reply to: I need advice on my unhealthy addiction! #16406Good one Neil, sounds like you've swapped your private for a Sargent and it's got you out of the mess.
in reply to: NEW HOME PAGE #16435Perhaps a formal note to the exec from you guys? which would then be read and discussed at the next meeting and if agreed upon might elicit some action to get paid professional management of the web site. But let me be devils advocate and suggest the other volunteers that run the club also put many hours in gratis. A volunteer is just that and if and when the load gets too much for any of them they move on and let someone else take over. When the jobs become either too large or technical then we have to revisit our commitment or pay up.As far as I'm aware we only have one "professional" volunteer that being Philip our treasurer. He is ready to admit it is taking him time to understand MYOB and finding PAYPAL cumbersome. I suggest most past exec members have had to self learn accounting, graphic, and other software packages as technology overtook the club and apart from the very odd occasion they have been keen amateurs at best. I don't know if Bruce has any formal training in Web design or is a self taught enthusiast, he surely appears to know much more than most but there comes a time when technology catches up and overtakes us and when this happens we must bow to it and pay up.
in reply to: Inside leg measurements……………..and GS Adventure. #16272;D you're right and it brings to mind watching young (then) Andrea Mayer at our Cromwell Rally some years ago looking tiny but oh so competent once under way.
in reply to: I need advice on my unhealthy addiction! #16400Go for it Neil, when the world banks all crash you'll still have a lovely bike to enjoy 😉
in reply to: Membership #16398You mean the link in the top menu at http://bmwor.org.nz/index.html? Works fine in Rewa Hard. The payment system is not linked to PayPal any longer, about which I will say more next Monday night: too long and painful to go into here. The whole website is currently under review: in my !spare! time I am pretty much rewriting the whole thing. You are going to have to be patient. Try casting your mind back to when the world, and we were younger, and the PC hadn't been invented, and enjoy the nostalgic buzz.......
That's the one, excuse me having a laugh but when I think of the trials and tribs that the exec put poor old Jean through to get Pay Pal set up and now it's being ditched ::) I have to wonder where we're going. I only know I was younger when I look at the old pics. As for casting my mind back Bruce, I've tried but could only get to breakfast today mate. :-
in reply to: Accessory luggage rack #16372🙂 Yes it's been for sale for months and he hasn't shifted his price. I made contact to discuss but the seller was very abrupt and wasn't interested in an offer. I could bring one in from Aus for little more than his reserve and all the nuts and bolts would be new. Today I sent a drawing to the laser cutters so hopefully will get one for $25+gst plus the cost of four countersunk bolts.Same seller has also been trying to sell his GS for a similar time, it has just come back on same price he's not one for shifting for the market so perhaps he's just flying a kite. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=455631426
in reply to: Accessory luggage rack #16370I have the Givi Monokey plate fitted to the bike (came with) but I like the Touratech aluminuim plate for strapping a roll bag. I've had a mate draw up a CAD drawing off a photocopy and will get one laser/water cut at a local firm. Fingers crossed it will work. Thanks for you help.
in reply to: Accessory luggage rack #16368Ah we're talking about a different rack. I've got a TRAX pannier system on order from SW MOTECH but I'm looking for a Touratech tail plate for strapping on a roll bag. Thanks anyway.Hope you had a good time down south, we're away on the 28th for a couple of weeks to see the Wings over Wanaka ;DThanks again for your help.
