in reply to: BMWOR newsletter comes to an end????? #7914
The options in the survey are to limiting for me to vote the way I would want to. However I think it is essential to retain the hard copy. I also like to be able to access the electronic version and see no reason why we cannot have both. Those of you who care about the future of the Register will no doubt have your own explanations for our current situation but it is relatively recent. (At the AGM 2005 it was reported that the Register "continues to be in a strong financial position with a balance of $5,036 in the cheque account and term deposits of $20,000") There is no reason why this situation cannot be achieved again with good management and careful budgetting. in reply to: Which is your favourite BMW classic? #7793Aww c'mon Alex, it's bloody stunning…Malcolm
in reply to: Trickle Charger, which one? #7759Sorry I'm not looking to sell it Alex, just happy to lend it short term.
in reply to: Trickle Charger, which one? #7756I bought a Deltran Battery Tender when I got my first bike with ABS. It sits in the drawer unused at present because I had to get a fancy BMW one for the GS. The Deltran was very reliable and you can borrow it for a while to see how it goes prior to purchasing if you would like.Malcolm
in reply to: I’m sorry, you can’t ride your bike #7681If only life were that simple 😛
in reply to: Auckland area ride 13 May 07 #7711Thanks Dean.
in reply to: I’m sorry, you can’t ride your bike #7679Ahh that's the attitude, thanks for sharing that with us Tony. 😀 That's the second good chuckle I've had this evening. The first one I downloaded with my email but it's a biggish file and right now may not be time to post it. It's the time we live in I guess, more and more folk getting upset by more and more little things. Talking of restrictions did you see the Herald this morning? they're talking of micro-chipping senior citizens 😉 They'll know when and where we ride our bikes then.Ride safe Ingle and Leslie and have a great trip.Malcolm
in reply to: Gun Trophy – widen the scope? #7575My two cents worth:The amount of writing in most of these threads is quite small compared to a submission to the newsletter. A lot of a thread content is followed up by other people. Would everyone share the trophy?
Good point Dave, there are one or two recent reports that come to mind though, the most recent being from Garry Williams which came with some great pics of the Lottin Point ride. It was at least as comprehnsive as most in the mag. As for replies to the original post - I don't think they would qualify as they are only follow up comments rather than reports. To Tharon, I'm not sure that the trophy was won last year. There were a couple of comments in the minutes requesting votes for articles but nowhere can I find who the recipient was 😐 Does anyone know?
in reply to: Lottin Point – the long way round #7459PS Six of us had booked at Lottin Point for our holiday trip to Napier last January. Unfortunately Noel's little bit of horsing about at Coleville put paid to that. 🙁
in reply to: Lottin Point – the long way round #7458Great write up Garry, pleased you both had a good time but that goes without saying I guess. Those pics just make you want to get out on the road. Your bike looks a treat and I'm sure you're one rider that will get the best out of it. 😆 I was eagerly reading down to see if you had managed to call in at Mahia to check out the “wall of fame” but you didn't make it – a bit out of the way I guess. Always another day eh.Say hi to Jo for usTake careMalcolm and Jean
in reply to: Battlewing 501/502 #7304Are these a replacement for the Trail Wing Alex, they sound more like an option with a little less off road capability. Did you price them up elsewhere? or is this the only place you can get them.Malcolm
in reply to: Bike insurance #7282Why do you ask Tharon, are you just curious or trying to find a better product?I've been with JB since he started the group schemes. Always given excellent service insofar as changing my policy when adding, subtracting and particularly when I had two bikes. As for premiums I think he is fair and gives a good range of options. Only claimed once but absolutely no problem. For my money he has been inovative and a forward thinker and I certainly wouldn't change just to save a couple of dollars. As you can tell I'm a fan and I always look forward to his update at the AGM. 😆Good luck with your search.Malcolm
in reply to: Accessories?????? #6954I've used Nippy Norman and Motobins in the UK. 😆 Bob's BMW in the US 😆 and Touratech in Germany . All have been reasonable people to deal with and the only time I had to pay GST was on the parcel from Bob's BMW as it came in over the allowed amount for tax. I have also made a purchase from Southbank BMW in Melbourne 😆 which was made over the phone and collected by my daughter when she was in town. All of the people I've dealt with were efficient and friendly. On the other hand I have had some communication with others who are less obliging and show little interest in selling to me. Needless to say I didn't make any purchases from these dealers. Some don't even reply to requests for info. I put this down to the fact that they are busy people and must get many requests for prices etc from overseas that never transmit into sales. I appreciate this is not the way to do business but it happens. 😥 The trick for me is to shop around a bit, talk to others (these sites are great for this).
