I see with the forum members profile that the members do not update the section regarding where they live. Are they shy 😕    How do they expect to catch up on rides or meet new riders 😕 😕

I guess that is because they do not want their private details to be shown to the world.  Any member of BMWOR that wants to meet/host/help other members will have contact details in the Tour Guide which is published annually  😉 Alternatively amyone  wanting to make contact with a view to rides etc could post a question here with a number to call by interested members.

Nice bike Alex,  mine started off as an airhead, then became a well covered head  and now it's well on the way to being an airhead again  😆  The one that I'm leaning on of course is an oil head and I love it.Malcolm

Hi Dave, if that is the flip front model I'd be very interested in a more detailed report of how you find the Nolan in terms of effectiveness and comfort  🙂 and perhaps what you had previously. Thanks Malcolm

Hi Nick, me again  🙂 since you were watching the site and eventually took the time to post, I guess you still retain an interest even if you don't get the specific contact you would like.  I'd venture to say that you are probably feeling that taking the time to air your feelings hasn't been quite as successful as you might have wished but clearly there is support for your predicament.  So just hang in there and watch the entertainment and keep riding the 90 s.  By the way we passed through Pokeno on Sunday and stopped for an icecream – we weren't the only ones… 😛Take care MalcolmPS there were four canine lickers, a Boxer at left hidden - and the Spaniel to the right  🙂

And you think the Aucklanders will leave the North Island and yet Auckland??? 👿This one will fall in the same page as a other topic I will say. 😮

Well I don't know how many National Rallies you've been to? but from my experience we (Auckland Region) are always very well represented.  Be interesting for you to do a bit of on site research in January  😀 I will look forward to seeing the results.Malcolm

I guess I'm a bit of a bugger for punishment Bruce.  I spent some time flying around in RAF Hastings and Beverly aircraft in the early 60s and they were so uncomfortable and noisy we used to jump out of the things – but I loved it.  These days I watch the Herc's playing around outside my house and would love to go play too.  😀

Hi Nick, long time since we heard from you.  In fact the last time Jean and I saw you was at Pokeno when we were having an ice cream and you rocked up with the new Kawasaki 650 for Wendy – remember? has she still got it?Nick you are a real enthusiast with lots to offer and it's a little sad that you think as you do regarding how others in the club see you.  It's true that the newer machines tend to rule but there are always some who love the traditional BMWs and we see them at rallies all over the country.  For instance Paul Edlington and Darryl Applegate were at the last RAG on their early air head GSs and Paul on his R90S from Wanganui.  These folk enjoy their riding on machines they choose to ride and still take part in club activities albeit at their own pace.  But surely that happens whatever machine one rides.  I don't know anyone in the club who thinks they are in any way different from other members just becuase of the machine they ride.  Welcome back it's good to hear from you.  🙂Malcolm

Please don't Graham, it's only with use that we will find the little wrinkles and as with the previous one those in the know will iron them out for us.  Good spotting.  🙄Malcolm

It's like any other newspaper headline – designed to catch the eye without much thought of the possibility of the damage/hurt it may cause.  That's the business of selling the “news” i'm afraid Alex. However the subject of the article seems to be supporting motorcyclists by attempting to raise the awareness of car drivers that there are other users on the road that don't have the relative safety of a motorcar.  I watched an idiot do a right turn in front of a cyclist tonight seemingly totally unaware that the cyclist was there.  A micro second and the cyclist would have been smashed.  It's possible that the driver did see the cyclist and just didn't give a stuff but I suspect he/she didn't even see the bike.  Scary eh.Malcolm

“Most people” “core group”  there you go again Alex, how many members are you talking about here?.Malcolm

Alex I would be interested in the details of your “core group”.  Out of say 400 current members how many make up this group?  I think you would be surprised if you were able to accurately assess the feeliings of the wider membership.  In fact I'd ask you to think about your statement from the reverse perspective – is it not a relatively small group who would happily see the hard copy scrapped?  As I have already said in a previous post there needn't be a problem and everyone could have a choice.Malcolm
