Hi BryanThe seat/s on the 1100RT were individual and I think the seat on the K was a combined seat! you may be aware of this and be proposing to adapt but if not be warned.Malcolm

Thanks Arne, we are crossing each other here  😆 they sound like a good option – the roughest roads we do these days are the odd bit of metal so off road capability is not a biggie.  Can you remember how much they cost you.Malcolm

I'm was about to put a set of Tourances on the 1200 for the run south in the new year.  Someone has suggested the Conti Trail Attack which I have not heard of.  Anyone out there with experience of these?Malcolm

I haven't ever used mine on the bike but regularly use it on longer paddles  When you're thirsty even a mouthfull of warm water is good but there are options such as putting a couple of squirts of lime juice or some other flavour in if you don't like plain old water.Malcolm

I love the tractor Phil, well done.  😀 Great day for a ride, we were only able to manage a very short one for coffee and to try out the new Multitech helmets before our trip to the AGM.  First impressions are very good.  Comfortable and relatively quiet for an ff.  Malcolm

Have you made Julez aware that this event clashes with our AGM in Taupo Alex? Otherwise I'm sure many would be interested in showing support.  🙂Malcolm

Many thanks for taking the time to report Dave.  We have tried on Schuberth, System 5, Nolan and Shoei.  At this stage the Shoei is the most comfortable for both of our head shapes and it also seems to be a little lighter than the competition.  It comes with a spare visor and pinlock as well as a chin cover and “Whisper Kit” which fits around the neck to block draughts and noise.   Motomail are getting our sizes in and we will be able to take them for a short run on Saturday to try them out for noise and on road comfort.  Will keep you all posted – thanks again to all  who took the time to reply to my request.  🙂Malcolm

and you guys wonder why no airhead owners are interested in posting photos of their bikes here. I for one am not interested in giving ignorant people more ammo. We'll just continue polishing our primitive bikes in our darkened sheds.....

I'm not sure if this is a serious comment Nick? I hope I'm missing the humour somewhere between the lines  😕Malcolm

I used to describe the back brake on my old “89  PD as “wooden” now I know I had exactly the right description  😆

Just received these pics from a good friend.  Apparently they're the local chapter of HA in Peru…. Would they rate as “airheads”  😉HarleyDavidson-Ifugao.jpgHarletDavidson-Ifugao2.jpgMalcolm

And still more good feedback  😆 I'll certainly take a look at overseas prices.  As for the hair cut  I wish, I'm more this style nowadays  😐 so that's one thing I won't have to worry about.

Many thanks for your comments guys.  As you say Des you get completely opposing views about the same helmet from different owners – and I think you've hit the nail on the head (no pun intended) in identifying the style and type of bike as a key factor.  What are you riding Des?Dave, From what I see the Nolan generally gets good reports but I do think the sun visor being on the outside probably causes a few problems with extra noise but some owners love it.  We've never been particularly keen on intercoms but I do think with Bluetooth it eliminates the hassle of wires needing to be hooked up so who knows we may yet get chatting on the road.  Please keep us posted on your findings.Phil, it's hard not to miss the point about your helmet, but while it looks great teamed up with the S I'm not convinced it will look so good on the GS  😉 thanks for the input anyway.

Quote “Alex, the sad thing is that my view is not as unique as you may think. I very much doubt that there will be folks restoring K1200S and R1200GS bikes in thirty years time. The K series was released almost 25 years ago, and there is very little interest in them from collectors/restorers/enthusiasts, and their current value reflects that. The K is regarded with some respect, but little passion. “Interesting comment Nick, have you seen the ad in this months newsletter? Jerro is looking for a K100 to restore  😉 There's life in the K yet and the RS was my particular favourite - especially the 1100 a sweet looking bike with loads of character.  I think we will see a resurgence in the K bikes, the K75 S is another which is a really sweet handling bike and  easy on the eye too.  We will see them again I'm sure. 😎Malcolm

You are forgiven  😎  Occasionally a mid year update willl be published but to my knowledge never a monthly one.  Membership being down by as much as it is right now, and money being in such short supply I guess the powers that be think it would be an uneccessary expense.
