Yes apparently LTNZ are the ones that make these decisions.BRONZ are involved now and have made representations to LTNZ so hopefully we will get a common sense approach to a solution.CheersStu

I don't know if anyone is interested but Kiwibikers are planning a protest ride against these wire rope barriers after the death of the young lad last week.I know speed was involved but in reading a lot of the posts and what is happening overseas with banning these barriers it has given me food for thought on their dangers to motorcyclists.Evidently it you hit one at 40km/hr you are quite likely to be history.Riding back along the motorway last Sunday after the club ride, I kept as far away from them as I could and will in future treat them with a lot of respect.Details of the protest ride so far are :-Cheesecutter protest ride Saturday 3rd NovemberAssembly at 12:00PM for a 1PM departureAt this point we are still organizing the route for the ride. When this is finalized, this post will be updated with the details. But it will happen at the above day/time and we're letting everyoine know this now so you can schedule your time.

Details of when the ride departs:Meet Ramarama Motorway Offramp From south-bound lane of southern motorway, turn left off Ramarama off-ramp to meeting pointMeet 12 Noon – Depart 1pm Destination – Auckland DomainPlease wear a Red Arm BandCheersStu

Hi allWent back home to the Mainland at Easter and worked out the hard way that there are not enough tie downs on the Aratere.Due to a cancelled, then reinstated sailing (that we didn't hear about ...cos I cant answer phone on da bike)  there were only about 10 cars, 10 trucks and 3 Bikes travelling.Quickly tied the K75 down and then turned to the Germans (nice guys) as they stood there wondering why no one was securing their bikes. Finally clicked and explained them that they needed to do it themselves... we ran out after 1.5 bikes  then it was down to using the remains of the tattered, broken straps.  Finally sorted, fortunately a calm crossing as my knot work is not flash  😀Bought some tie downs at the Westport Mitre 10 ($41 for 4... good quality and a stunning yellow strap)Return trip a simple exercise with the flouro new straps... but watch that cursed wet painted greasy deck... eeeekCheersStu

Thanks AlexWill check out the indicator... love a wee surprise. Have "rebuilt" the top box latch already so it does close securely but as the thread is a bit stripped out it might be a bit dodgy. Time will tellEnjoyed the charity run on the Sunday. Good to hear tonight that transit is happy for the event to go ahead next year!Gotta get my membership sorted. Will seek you out and say hi 🙂CheersStu

Hi an updateHave taken a K75s ('93, 85k) for a spin for an hour today and liked it a lot. Suits my needs and it is prettier than the GS (sorry :-). Good start point and I can trade up later if I need more (don't we always)Comes with top and side panniers and just been serviced. They want $7,500 for it which is, as you suggested, the premium for a warranty and some redress. They are lending it to me for Waitangi day for a good blat with the missus so will see how that goes... Must say that I am a bit more confident buying from a dealer even tho' it will cost me more.Cheers again

Thanks for the advice. Have seen the GS and it's a bit different from what I am used to. Understand that they handle very well and are good all round bikes. Interested on any comments on the Pillion comfort.K models also look nice bikes for long trips, wonder if they are a bit of an effort around town tho?Having fun looking through Trade-me and resisting the temptation to jump in and bid !CheersStu
