Never mind Hentai can have my peice of wire that I have bent into a flash shape for cooking road kill over the open fire. 😀 Have fun guys and see you on the next one
in reply to: matching tyres #9915On the RS I ran Pirrelli Diablo Strada's front and rear, why? because I liked the looks of them and they performed well together. (perhaps if the bike behind me had them the RS would still be alive today )The tyres are designed to operate as a pair (there is after all two of them) and as such should have similiar handling characteristics. I was told by a smooth salesman that the front tyre of a matched pair was designed to clear the water from the road for the back tyre. What a load of lovely drivel, All tyres are designed to clear water, ok some do it better than others but they all have a tread (yes I know slicks dont smarty pants ) and thats what its purpose is. Benifits of matched tyres are. both tyres perform to the same standard If one lets go, they both let go They are predictable, simple as that.So how come race bike riders run mismatched tyres? Soft rears, hard fronts, wets front, slicks rear etc? Because they are pushing the bikes to the limits of adhesion, and most importantly,,,,, Because they are doing it in a controlled and monitered environment. Therefore they can tell if they have improved or lessened the bikes handling Us road or GS riders piddle about with tyres and suspension and tweak this that and the next thing, then measure the result with the seat of our pants We see what we look for and decide that as we paid shitloads for it then its really really good 🙄 Within reason tyres can be run mismatched, a basic knowledge of compounds and handling characteristic's is recommended for this Coupled with a realistic assessment of the bike I ride and how I ride it.What is more important than matched sets pf tyres are (in my humble opinion) tyres that match or exceed "MY" riding requirements
in reply to: Now this is a fun toy for metal Rds #9866It is a factory built one based on an airhead R80GS. They are designed to be used as off roaders and yes there is a big storage space under the seat 😀Norbert is talking of getting some 1000 barrel and pistons fitted to it plus a Guy in Eltham converts them to dual spark. Biggest problem at present is the oil overheating but thats getting sorted 😀
in reply to: Training for the Hub #9860Koko you will be pleased to know I lashed out and brought a camera and figured out how Photo Bucket works. Unfortunatly due to the foul weather I left it in its case a lot but here is a few shots of the trip. Note the tent strapped firmly on the back 😀
in reply to: Capital Coast and ABS #9791Ah yes the grating sound 😀 sort of a crunch crunch noise? This is suspect may be what you are experiencing. When you switch the key on you must give the ABS time to go through its test cycle. When both red ABS lights are flashing simel semila... 😡 at the same time 🙄 You can fire up ya beast!!! If they flash alternately (either before or after starting you have a fault) Once the engine is running and the lights are flashing correctly, engage a go forward cog and go forward 😀 You will notice that as you pass the soon to be new open road speed limit of 5 km/hr a strange clunk clunk or grating noise and as a bonus the red lights have stopped flashing and both have gone out. ABS sensors have picked up the bikes movement and the system should now be fully functional You may now proceed to second gear 👿
in reply to: Capital Coast and ABS #9785Biggest problem I have found with not switching ABS off is that locking the back to set for a corner cant be done. 😮 However do I really want to get an R11oo sideways? 😕It would be good if someone knew a way of turning off the ABS on the rear wheel only as I quite like the front wheel to keep turning 😀
in reply to: Trail Ride South Island #9784in reply to: I think very funny #9774Brilliant 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

in reply to: Eastern Taranaki gravel bash #9593So do we have any more starters????? 😀
in reply to: Accomodation #9634Glad the idea has hit a happy spot and seems to be working 😀 As a thought (knowing its a work in progress) should we keep accomodation – food ideas in there as much as poss. This includes feedback comments pertaining to both. And keep the general talk feedback about rides to and from these places out here or should they be included?I dont want to make things cumbersome but haveing viewed a number of other sites sometimes it becomes hard to find the info through the waffle 😮
Haven Rd HotelApparently this place had a bad reputation. A young couple were managing it and although it was a bit disorganised (they had to go and buy some towels for us) they tried real hard to please.Check it out and if they have got it together I would stay there again 😀
