in reply to: Pannier compatibility #18908
When I checked part numbers the racks were almost $600 US so the price here might be a shock. I have alloy Givi Trecker Outback panniers for the 1200 and just got a rack for the 800 GS as well,Using the same Panniers.
in reply to: Henry Plowright #18996Spoke to Henry Yesterday getting a lot better watch out He does not find out You are after an 800 He will be after Ya.
in reply to: Pannier compatibility #18905Gremlin exhaust on the 650-800's is the same as the hex heads 04-13. It's the new LC that is on the RH side. The alloy panniers on the adventures look the same.Racks will be different.Just checked the part numbers 1 number out in each of the part numbers , only way to make sure is for Gremlin next time he's going past a 800 Adventure is to try the out to see if they fit.
in reply to: Pannier compatibility #18903Racks will be the question? Try checking the part numbers on the MaxBmw online parts fiche.Taking it that You have BMW adventure alloy Panniers? Is that Your 2009 1200 on Trademe?Cheers

in reply to: R1150RT won’t start ideas please #18929A mate had a 1150RT that the fuel pump packed up on the forgotten world highway. Transported back to Stratford then I had the job of riding thru to Hawera to get a new fuel pump from Repco same one that goes into Ford Falcons and Sierra . So keep that in mind if the pump packs up miles from a BMW workshop.
in reply to: Continental TKC 70 #18890I think PeterZ was running one on his F800 Adventure, seems happy with it . Has TKC 80 on the front But I think the TKC 70 would work on the LC better on the road. Any tyre from Continental does what it's meant to. Try a set and let us know.
in reply to: BMW Recall, or the importance of torque wrenches #18623Check out Daffys post about this , He has got proof of purchase and Euroimports want replace to replace with another sport helmet I and 2others I know of have not got proof of purchase so Whe are on our own. This different to what BMW say in the fatherland. Partners 13 year old Toyota import has a recall on the airbag Toyota send out letters and arrange to get it done no charge. When is a recall not a recall?
in reply to: BMW Sport Helmet Recall #18881Yes I am also having trouble getting answers from dealers as I have not got proof of purchase.Whe are the last country in the world to here about recalls Whe have to advise dealers about them ie Fuel flange gasket R and K models then rear wheel flange , they are not interested in handling recalls Must be no profit for the importer or dealers.
in reply to: BMW Recall, or the importance of torque wrenches #18620Got one of these Sport helmets Janine won't use it now . It sounds like it is a world wide recall Europe ,South Africa USA. Went into two BMW dealers and they no nothing about it .NZ is at the bottom of the World so Whe are always a couple of years behind, BMW dealers are only doing the fuel pump flange recall now after a few bikes have caught fire around the world.Looking forward to getting a brand new helmet for the boss.
in reply to: BMW Recall, or the importance of torque wrenches #18618I got 2 letters about this recall on 2 bikes. One purchased brand new the other ex BMW press bike. Still waiting for dealer to do the job. The importers get owner lists from the NZTA and send the letters out from there .The nice Chap (JohnG) that used to sign the letters has left so they might be getting behind now. Don't worry the wheel will not fall off providing You do not over tighten it with the rattle gun.
in reply to: BMW Recall, or the importance of torque wrenches #18613In NZ BMW do not replace fuel gauge strips that fail all the time on some bikes R1200GS K1200GT etc. In the States they have extended warranty out to 12years parts and fitting. They don't want to be sued when a rider runs out of gas with a faulty fuel gauge and Kenworth runs over Ya.Higher chance of being run over by the truck than Your rear wheel falling of with the faulty wheel flange. Have not herd about the fuel pump flange recall that some other country's have had. Only know of 1 RT catching fire and 1 Adventure loosing all its fuel at a gas station causing a Fire Service call out. Would not worry about the rear wheel flange, I have been waiting for Experiance to come back to Me when to do the GS for about 6 months. They probably wait till You take in for other work so they can charge Ya extra time, No money in warranty work for the dealership.
in reply to: Wheel flange K2X/K4X models #18784That's what happens when Ya have a GS one ends up riding them all the time. I have had My 1200GS for 11.5 years and forgotten how many times I have changed the oil/filters and tires. At 125,000ks it's running just like new still.
