in reply to: An upcoming chance for some run-out specials? #19106
To late Brucie I think they have already gone , so might have to keep the Suzuki for another year.Long live the K1200/1300 they were a very powerfull and underrated bike.Have a good new year Brucie
in reply to: Police harassment? #19104Na already got 4 of the System 6's Was not Me saw it on facebook. Besides can't work out how to pair the Bluetooth on a helmet I got. The more I reed the instructions the worse it gets.Might have to stick to the IPod nano
in reply to: Police harassment? #19102Should tell them not to leave there (Taxpayers) helmets on there bikes outside the Auckland hospital as well. System6 evo with Bluetooth $1900rrp Some person nicked one of them .
in reply to: A significant kmstone #19095Yep they seemed to last forever got a Anakee3 on the back now that came of the 800gs seems to be lasting but no record. No gravel work seems to make them last a little longer. Good wet weather grip as well. Maybe I am getting a bit slowin Me old age.
in reply to: A significant kmstone #19092Arnie don't get Anakee3's I only got 24K rear and 26K front on a set on the 1200GS and that includes a SI trip 2up in summer. They get a little squared of after about 20ks. When Ya find a better tyre for a GS let Me Know.
in reply to: BMW Recall, or the importance of torque wrenches #18627Let us know Gremlin , as I have just had My GS flange done as well as the fuel pump recall . It only took about 5 years after I advised The dealer about these recalls.I am taking the GS down to the Burt Munro Challenge and will be 2 up with a bit of a load.As much as We love our BMW's make Ya think about buying another one .The new KTM 1090R/1290R or Triumph Tiger sport are looking good.Even BMW F800GS chains don't last that long 27,000ks which is normal they say. There are choices out there.
in reply to: The stable is slightly more fullerer #19080Nice looking machine I would like one of those, but cannot fit any more bikes into the garage. Why do airheads fetch huge amounts of money compared with some 1000/1100 bricks that You can pick up in mint condition for very little money. Will the 1100 bricks be worth any thing in the future?
in reply to: Skilled BMW Techs in NZ #19073$850 plus GST is cheap I sold my 04 final drive which did have a new main bearing in it for $1000 so with a rear disc that is good value. Did it come of a 08 or later bike? That's when they droped the ratio a little.
in reply to: Skilled BMW Techs in NZ #19071Hi Gremlin I. Think You are on the right track in getting a good used one from overseas, don't forget to factor in the GST and clearance fee from customs in NZ. Dean had My GS all apart to replace a $24 cam chain guide a few weeks ago, It's running like a new one now and I have gotten over the bill which was very fairOn another bike My 800GS had the chain and sprockets replaced at 27,000ks which is normal for this model. $419 fitted. So at 130,000ks it would of had 4.8 chains replaced cost of just over $2000 So the jury is out on chain versus shaft they are both to expensive.New Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 is looking nice at $20995.
in reply to: Vitamol V10 clutch fluid for a 2009 R1200GS #19065Try a castrol agent or a BMW dealer, It's liquid gold in price.
in reply to: Internal Sun Visor Mechanism Failure System 6 #19059BMW does consider it on a case by case basis.Otherwise, fall back on the CGA. The good old "fit for purpose". The more you pay, the more you can expect it should perform ;D
Yes but this act only applys when sold for private use .
in reply to: Internal Sun Visor Mechanism Failure System 6 #19056Take it back for a goodwill claim, should last longer than 3 years for a $1200 lid . None of mine have failed yet . Some have failed in the UK according to UKGSER. Was on tour and whe had a guy with a Schberth C3 fail. He pulled it apart and fixed it some how. Maybe it's the cold winter down south.Ya might have to use the new lid instead of keeping it in the bag. Janine got Her new System 6 evo, She is very happy with it.
in reply to: Series 6 helmet with Motorrad Intercom #19015So Daffy Your new helmet must of arrived , picked up a gray System 6 with the Comms installed must get around to finding a charger for it and trying it out. On the to do list.
in reply to: Canbus issues with led spotlights/lightbar #19007The canbus set up is very sensitive to extra current draw try wiring the light bar up to battery and on/off switch only and the long rang spots to the high beam with relay and see if that works.
in reply to: Pannier compatibility #18911It's hard to get the perfect bike, bought a 2013 F800GS great for getting around in Auckland traffic, not to bad comfort wise 2 up , but not a 1200GS for touring. Have not tried the 800 of road yet but I do not think it will be as good as the G650X in the gravel or of road. The 800 is good weight wise and plenty of get up and go, so it's a hard choice ,got a shed full of bikes but can't make the choice Wich to drop off. It's a adiction problem.
