Hi Bwucie. You must have almost gone past my door. I'd have given you coffee and Christmas cake, and we could have lined up the R1100's and had a photo shoot.  Maybe next time, feel we could have a lot in common.

I am not normally one to worry about my privacy, but if the Tour Guide were to go online, it would need to be available ONLY via authorised subscription. I don't have a problem with Joe or Jolene Public having access to our waffle here - if anything it would demonstrate to bikers of other marques that those whose scoot is a Bimmer are as much of a riff-raff as any other kind of biker, bless our cotton socks. That said, it is an easy thing to provide a password protected database for private use, and if someone was silly enough to share their password and I wound up with some hoon wearing 200 body piercings, a coal-scuttle helmet, and pedalling a rat-bike Harley knocking at my door saying, "Hey, cuz, I saw your name in the Bimmer Tour Guide, can me an the missus pitch a tent onya lawn?", I'm fairly sure I know what my answer would be.If I was so lucky as to ever get time off to go touring, to be honest, I think my approach would be to contact someone from this forum, whose opinions and degree of sense of humour I have some indication of from their posts, and ask them about "Tour Guide" type assistance when I was passing through their patch. I'm a bit of a shy boy with total strangers, but with this marvellous device sitting on my office desk I feel I half way know some of you already.

If I could have said it better, I would have done.  Sum-ed up in 251 words (give or take a few) us r1000s owners know a thing or two.  Regards Phil

If the bike is as good as their website BMW could be on to a winner.  😀

Can these go in the rain?

With cars you just get more of the same. With bikes it's wow and wow!. Car maufacturers can take some time to learn from bike makers on how to get customers passionately involved.

Their are some interesting (crazy) motorcycle riders out there. Now I would never be remotely interested in beating this guys record or even try to do part of it. But here it is, he rode his BMW non stop, without ever stopping for some 35 hours. They explain how he got over the fuel problem. They explain how he managed to never stop for lights. They don't explain how he avoided the toilet stops. My guess is adult diapers. But let's not take away from the feat no matter how crazy the whole idea seems to me. Although the fuel idea could solve a potential problem for me.http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/newsandupdates/122_0808_bmw_k1200_lt_motorcycle_rider/index.html

If he was not going to stop why did he need a trailer ? or was that to carry the fuel and the used diapers  👿  Phil

A great bike the R1100s I do do a far bit of 2 up riding. I weight in at 87kg. and judeth a little less. ( don't for gods sake let her know I 'v put this on the web) anyway we both find the seat very comfortable. a few weeks back we did a trip from Gisborne to Thames around the coast. About an 7 hour trip. We were still Mates at the end of the day, that was with boxes on as well.   When riding solo back off the suspension on both ends, a little, put on the seat cover, Looks great, and you have a bike that will hold it,s own with most so called sports bikes.   Get one you will not be sorry. If you want to know more PM me  Regards Phil

I've got the new Shoei Hornet and love it. It doesn't leak and the wind noise is bearable, you should wear ear plugs anyway. I use it every day. The only problem I had was that the screws holding the visor have fallen out twice now. They need to be checked occasionally.

Try using "LOCTIGHT" (Wrong spelling) you can get a weak one, better still take it in to an Optometrist and ask them to put a dab on the screws. Regards Phil

Unfortunately this is all wishful thinking, as there would never be 7 cops, 2 patrol cars, 3 patrol motorbikes and a brief to target intersection driving offences, at least not in Auckland.guote]I would not be to sure about that see below.  Regards PhilPolice recruits from afar 7:00AM Thursday August 21, 2008The country's front line will be boosted by 76 new officers today when recruits from Wing 252 graduate from Police College. The officers range in age from 18-44 and have come from Zimbabwe, Malaysia, the Philippines and Turkey. Sixteen of the officers are female. Auckland will receive 29 of the recruits.

Are you both, saying that we should not train drivers/riders?  Or build save cars,  ABS, AIR BAGS, etc. or teach people how to drive/ride out of trouble? Why not just go back to having someone walk in front with a red flag? Remember!! "No risk no gain"  🙄 Regards Phil
