I've had 4 sets of Metzeler Roadtec Z6 on my R1100RT in the past 3 years. I got 17k out of the first set but swapped them out at 15k regardless after than. If you have a set you can happily ride 200km with the  'canvas' showing (it's steel blockhead!), I would happily used them again. I changed to Michelin Pilot Road CT2 for the recent Rusty Nuts MC Southern Cross Road Rally (they were being specialled at the time) and have done 7500km approx since fitting them. My first impression was how quiet they were, I thought there was something wrong with the engine when I rode away from the shop then realised it wasnt being drowned out by tyre (note the spelling) noise. The very different handling took a while to get used to, especially as the tyre would occassionally 'squirm' when hard over (for me) and 'going for the doctor', the softer compund quite evident. The sides where 'feathered' like a race bike after a brisk bit of winding road.  😀I had a puncture at 1k and put an Innovations temporary plug in it. No pressure loss after 100km and another 170km at normal bike speeds (you choose  🙂 ) before getting a vulcanised plug and patch fitted at Cycletreads. "Good for the max speed of the bike and the life of the tyre mate!" Writing all this makes me wanna go ride  😥

Must say I enjoyed that part of the ride Dave, you were all over me in the corners, the extra HP enabled me to stay ahead on the straights  😎

My R1100RT had the input final drive seal and bearing replaced at 79000km. I pulled the drive, gave it to Experience to fix and refitted it for $357

I thought the team leader standing to the front of the cones put reality into the exercise and showed whether a rider could make a proper, prompt decision or not. If you cant…..dont ride!

Yeaah, but it wouldnt stand up in court. You posted it, people read it then it was replaced by a later model, you had your day in the limelight and ADMIN saved you from further embarrasment.Anyway, I stayed at the Masonic Hotel on the last SCRR and the people were great. Room was really really cheap at $25 per night and the bed was comfortable. They kept the bar open until 1130pm when I arrived (long story) and locked the bike up in the garden bar where the peasants couldnt get at it. Great service.

Had the misfortune to follow a blinky stop light bike (GW I think) over the Napier – Taupo one night, pee'd me off so much I has to pass. They definitely belong on pushbikes. Came across another tosser with a modulated headlight one fine day, again a real nuisance, more danger to oncoming traffic being distracted than protecting him from the evil cage drivers. He was riding a bling bike so was more likely to be thinking “look at me” for another reason

The NGK BKR7EKC-N plug nose is 2mm longer than the OEM Bosch FR6 DDC plug and therefore is firing in a different position in the combustion chamber. I was surprised when I changed the plugs and this produced an apparent increase in engine performance. 31000km later and no apparent problems. The OEM Bosch plugs are available from Experience BMW at a reasonable price.Link to NGK's part number explanation page: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/docs/tech/partnumberkey.pdfMy bike used to cut out intermittently until I found I had damaged one of the ignition circuit wires when I fitted a Kissan Signal Minder. Now repaired it hasnt missed a beat since.
