Are those BMW OEM parts from your toolbox? My medically-minded other half has commented something along the lines of "Oohoowouchnice".
Not from BMW, but they've assured me it's titanium. Had they fixed a broomstick this way, I would have been worried. The repair has been good for 8 years now, so it can't be too bad. The fibula was cracked further up as well. I'll try not to do a repeat performance.
in reply to: The Wizzard’s (Mis)Adventure #17286I am not sure if this will cheer you up, but it's always fun to post
in reply to: ABS unit repairs #17310You guys will put an eye out without ABS. 😮
in reply to: The Wizzard’s (Mis)Adventure #17282I've been through the pain thing. First morphine and then codeine and what have you. The morphine was the best, no pain, sweet crazy dreams, definitely worth every cent. The codeine was only good for a couple of hours. They told me I could only take one every three hours. So I slept for two and waited in agony for another hour. After a week of this, it got better and after two, I stopped using the codeine. 3 month later I had my first attempt of trying to ride the bike. Couldn't get the side stand up. So back into the garage it went. A couple of weeks later I was good to go, fold up canes are great on a bike. I could ride, but not walk properly :-).Anyway, all the best with your recovery. Gives you plenty of time to think things through, I found.
in reply to: Hello from Canader #17274I like you sig line, OZ-slider. But I've got to say, the secret is in the timing.
in reply to: Vacant position #17221I seee… it's obviously a recent photo. Must have been taken on the ride before your last one. When is their happy hour?
in reply to: No naked bikers, but what do you think…. #17242It would be appropriate, perhaps, to have such a facility as part of http://bmwor.org.nz, but not, I venture on http://bmwor.org.nz/forum
Yes, the forum could be too public for some issues, but not everything is controversial and and we are not talking the New Zealand Government here. As it is, the newsletter is on the web and that even has some financial accounts. We already know what it's like now, what do you think would change by leaving it like it is? But really, operate on trust? 🙂 I do that with people I've known for several years, otherwise, it's as far as I can throw them and I currently have tendonitis. In the past people have complained about 25 people running the club from Auckland. Now we have a handful of people doing the same elsewhere. While some decisions just have to be made on the spot and others are so trivial that they are not worth talking about it, there are some things that would be worthwhile putting out there in good time. People can then poke it, prod it or run it up the flagpole to see if it waves. They can read about what others think and then make up their mind. Or, wait for Colin to do it for them. Ok, I am being a bit harsh and I don't really mistrust the Executive's good intentions. However, why wait for 4 weeks for one opinion, so you can read about the opposite view 4 weeks later? I don't have that sort of an attention span.....Oh, look a chicken.... yes, where were we?
in reply to: Vacant position #17219Now you're talking, that's a ride worth making whatever the reason for going.
I didn't see a Hotel in there Mr. Bell. But then again, I didn't dawdle around, so I could have missed it.
in reply to: No naked bikers, but what do you think…. #17240Good idea, call it “Ask the President”, or something like that. He could even set up a poll for some feedback. This could be advertised in the newsletter and then people just pop in to vote. It wouldn't be binding of course, as everybody has an opinion, but not everybody is a member. However, the result is instantly visible. It beats asking a few people you like here and there and call it feedback. Well, feedback you like is feedback, feedback you don't, now that's just stirring. ;DTo bad we don't have a debate button, so Collin could do one of those. A poll, though, would be a start. All right, I'll stop dreaming, it will never happen.
in reply to: Ride to Kawhia #17163I think it's Richard who attracts the rain in the first place. 🙂 We were try up to the meeting point. My boots were soaked as well. My Revit overall rainsuit turned out to be just as useless as all the other rain gear I have.
in reply to: Ride to Kawhia #17160Haha, well played. I might even buy you a beer at the Rally :-).
in reply to: how did the AGM go #17110Please note that lobbying does not involved whining and moaning 8)
Thankfully we have you to be the judge. ;D
in reply to: how did the AGM go #17104Good news Darryl. All remits passed. Just need a new Treasurer. 🙂
And that is good news.
Is that a statement, or a question?
in reply to: Hi. New Auckland member #17095It pays to take it easy on the heavier bikes. They are a handful in soft sand and also in mud. I guess they are mostly at home on gravel roads. However, it depends on how much you want to scare yourself in the process. A good rider can do better on one of those, than I can on a 250. I am sure you'll be fine. I took my R80Gs through the Sandpit a couple of years ago. That was pretty exciting and it's easy to work up a sweat :-).
in reply to: Hi. New Auckland member #17093Welcome Johan, we need more adventure riders in Auckland. I've you live in the north-west, by any chance, let me know.
