The fork oil in these forks are for lubrication only. Most likely your shock absorbers have seen better days. If they are older than 40000km, the would have deteriorated quite a bit. I'd say after 60000km they'd be pretty much stuffed as far as comfort goes. However, you may want to check the the pre-load setting and have a play with the rebound setting.

Glenn DUNBIER is one of the most pleasant policeman in the country.

Aren't they all nice and pleasant? Or is he just more pleasant than all the other pleasant ones?

You'll notice that I'll be doing the gravel section :-D.  I think that article makes a pretty good point. There aren't many places to go when things go wrong. I have also noticed a lot of cars and cars pulling boats taking up more than their fair share of the road. But hey, I've hooned through there and I am sure others do as well. It's got to be one of the best riding areas you'll find anywhere. The good thing is you can hoon legally. Thanks to the many corners the speed limit isn't an issue. To blame it on returning riders is probably not fair, it's people who show bad judgement, or are around when someone else shows bad judgement, that get hurt.

In that case I would polish Malcolm's one and keep it shiny in the garage.

Departure 9.30am and yes, it's BP Papakura. I guess my mails are cryptic enough without me trying to be clever. 😀

If it's too damp we'll be doing the same. Those Coromandel gravel roads can be slippery.

I don't think these bikes came without an ss exhaust. By the way, there is one for sale in the newsletter. $350, seems reasonable. This would save you a lot of polishing.

I've used it. I normally fill up with BP, it's on the way to work. We've got a Mobil Station more or less across the road, so I sometimes fill up there. Bike seems to ping with whatever I put in there. On day this thing will blow up on me.

It's the same every year. Surely it's got to be cheaper to do it right the first time.

Damn!  I can't go.  I am working at our last public open day.

If they'd let bike hoon through we could detour the ride through there, I'd even throw 5 bucks at the toll booth on the way past :-).Well enjoy your day, that's what you've worked so hard for and I've got to say it's turned out well. Maybe you could take a few pictures at similar locations to my old report, so we can compare before and after.

The pipes are most likely chromed stainless steel. The chrome seems to burn off after few years, leaving a brownish rusty looking surface. This can be cleaned off with a bit of wet and dry sandpaper, strart with about 400grid, then 800 and then use Autosol. Once this has been cleaned you'll see the transition from chrome to steel. If your headers are not chromed, they will have a dark, slightly bluesih appearance. I had thought about doing the same, but I am happy enough with the cleaned up look.

Thanks for that Bwucie. She is here for just under a year as an au pair. She's had a Transalp in Germany, but has bought the Suzuki over here. The tyres should be fine then.We can always ride together until Thames, and should you change your mind after that, we'll take over. Alex
