Glad you found the problem, you can have them reconditioned. Perhaps you can even give it a clean-up yourself.http://www.largiader.com/tech/valeo/
in reply to: Dead R1100R #12609How old is your battery? These Gel batteries can die very quickly. I am guessing that what you hear is the starter relay. There is a battery for sale on trademe at the moment http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=236273138 this might be a cheap way to fix your problem.
in reply to: Dead R1100R #12607You could try to clean the terminals and the earth connection.
in reply to: What’s best #12596Anodizing gives a very tough finish. The GS forks are anodized and have been holding up very well, much better than the fork clamps, which appear to be powder coated.I just wonder if the treatment would make thin Aluminium more brittle?
in reply to: HP2 oopppssssssssss #12592It's hard to see what happened. Looks like he came jumping over the ridge, saw the the turn and hit the brakes. His front rim tyre looks compressed to the rim.People seem more concerned about the rider than the bike, so let's assume the rider was OK. It looks like boots are better off under the trousers, so it's less likely they'll get pulled off. Bummer.
in reply to: Poly V Belt / Alternator Belt Tip #7600Well, there goes almost another 60000km and so this tip is all of a sudden timely :-). Enough reason to resurrect this thread.
in reply to: Aug.2 AKL Lunch ride to the Puhoi Cheese Factory #12536Did you guys end up not riding? I arrived at 10 to 10 and assumed that you'd already left. Gerda hadn't been feeling well the last few days, so we weren't sure we could make it. In the end only I came. I got a bit of gravel in on the return trip. The weather was pretty good and stayed pretty much dry, apart from damp roads on the Wellsford loop.
in reply to: Gunnyrob’s beemer breaks again again #12561That's good news. Stay away from those puddle in the future :-).
in reply to: AC Schnitzer version of the 800 #12569I had a look at the Aprilia today. Mt Eden Motorcycles have them in the showroom. Will have to take one out for a test ride. It looks even better in the flesh. The F650GS is clearly a more versatile bike. However, the Aprilia would make a great weekend toy. The ergonomics seem to fit me well. Build quality appears to be very good. I asked them about service intervals. They are much more frequent than with the F650GS. I could get over that though, especially if I actually had the spare cash to buy one :-). It would go well with the 1150 and the R80.
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5293Yep, a little history is forgotten every time one of these houses disappears. I am already sorry that I have not taken high resolution shots in the past. I may have to do that now that I have a better camera. Thanks for posting what happens to these houses near the city.
in reply to: Gunnyrob’s beemer breaks again again #12558I like the pictures, but I can't see the bike in that water shot, either it was a very slow shutter speed or it's a miniature bike. What's that white stuff in the last picture? Rob, on the bright side, you've probably have it all covered now once this is repaired. My 1150 has been extremely reliable, apart from one issue that could be related to user error. It has now blown the first fork seal, maybe I shouldn't praise it so much.
in reply to: AC Schnitzer version of the 800 #12565I really like the look of the Aprilia. Maybe the engine is just to highly strung? It would be fun to ride to work on and would be useful on shortish weekend rides, not to mention the occasional track day. How bad can a bike be nowadays? I'd hate to have one that leaves me stranded. The rest can usually be fixed with an aftermarket suspension. As for long johns, Swazi and Icebreaker work for me.
in reply to: AC Schnitzer version of the 800 #12562As a supermotard I like this one better.
in reply to: Gunnyrob’s beemer breaks again again #12554You poor man, I could just hear Sebastian talk. :-D. My first guess was ring antenna. You should see if you can get a replacement computer from a wrecked bike. No way would I pay $4500 for such a thing. Knock on wood, so far the computer on my R80 has been running faultlessly on adventure rides. I am starting to think that you have bought yourself a lemon. Other than that it looks like you have had a great ride. And yes, you need to get some pictures. Thanks for the report, Rob.
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5291Yes, that last one is the one on the corner of SH2 and Whakarau Rd.This one is in Fairfield Lane, Matata.
That's a really nice one, I like how the plants are getting into it.
