in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12464
Does anyone know were you can hire a trail bike for a day, or is able to lend one to Gerda? She wants to do the training as well, but her own bike is too big.
in reply to: A few pictures from the weekend’s adventure ride #12786The nice people at Experience helped me to straighten the handle bars this afternoon. The bruises on the leg don't matter, unless I fall onto them again. Middle finger and thumb should be back to normal size by Sunday. So far the forecast is good. I guess "Thunderbirds are go"!
in reply to: A few pictures from the weekend’s adventure ride #12782This shot gives a better idea of how deep it was. I could feel the bike shifting sideways.
in reply to: Nth Island 9 day ride #12773Thanks for the report, Dave. It looks like the weather was mostly good, but a bit chilly. Dave, if you link to the large photos on photobucket they will show up larger here as well.
in reply to: A few pictures from the weekend’s adventure ride #12781Here are some random pictures from Fisher track and a couple from the 42nd. Some guys managed to do Fishers, the 42nd and the Old Whanga Road both ways. I wasn't one of them. I did take the scenic road home instead of riding the Old Whangamomona road. Most of these have me in it, because they're the ones I saved 😀[img]http://http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v727/Berwyn/P1030286-1.jpg
in reply to: A few pictures from the weekend’s adventure ride #12780There was only one crossing that was a problem. Both R80's on the ride stalled in it, but so did some of the other bikes. We had to walk them through. I first didn't recognize the approach to the creek, because part of the track was flooded as well. The pictures were taken by Anthrax, one of the Kiwibiker regulars. I have selfishly saved mine, but more can be viewed here: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=105273&page=17Both BMW thankfully started again. I had to remove and dry one plug on mine. A suirt of WD40 got it going again. Because I had arsed-off (technical term) early on my right hand wasn't working all that well. But all I had to do was to slow down a little and I managed to get through all the tricky bit without further problems. I'll leave the side tracks for another day. Fishers track was harder than the traverse, we went hooned through the traverse pretty quickly.
in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12463Sounds like there is more interest than expected. He may get in a second coach if that is the case.I just got back from the 4nd and Fishers track. Maybe I should have waited until after Chris' training :-D.
in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12458I guess by doing that they avoid complaints about the tie downs that they provide.
in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12456Cool Malcolm. That makes four of us. I'll let Chris know we're all set. By the way, we just booked the ferry. $90 one way per rider and bike, with the discount. Bluebridge is $100.
in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12454We now have three people attending. If you don't know who Chris Birch is, check out his website: http://www.birchy.co.nz/
in reply to: Airheads & Boxers #12685It's looking good. I'll need to get my act together soon.
in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12452Just got a reply from Chris. Sunday the 1st of November is available. If we can get five people or more it's $130 per person. We currently have 3/4 people interested, but I am not sure if this date suits them. Chris is pretty busy this time of the year. It will be "A mini adventure ride with stops at a couple of farms for some drills and some on trail instruction" according to Chris. Please express your interest here for the the 1st of November, preferably before the end of the week. I will have to confirm numbers by then.I am in!
in reply to: Waitemata MCC Trail ride #12748The lunch ride will be to the Station Cafe in Helensville. Haven't added it to the calendar yet. We could do a morning session, ride to lunch and then go back for another loop :-).
