in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12472
Chis wants to change the date from next Sunday to next Saturday, as he has a race on Sunday that he would like to attend. That's Saturday the 31st of October. I have emailed all the people who I thought wanted to come. If you didn't get an email, I may not have a current address, or I didn't know you intended to come. Either way, just respond here if this suits you or not.
in reply to: Accessory plugs for the "new" K’s & R’s: #12694Pardon my stupid question. Are you guys talking about the standard cigarette lighter sized socket found on cars or the BMW sized accessory plug? I'am just getting a power cable for my Garmin etrex and it has a car plug on it. I suppose the easiest would be to install a car socket as well. I am also looking into powering my Uniden walkie talkie from the bike. It's only the 2watt version, so I'll have to McGuiver a connection to it. However, I'll also need to reduce 12V to about 5V, so the thing doesn't blow. Unfortunately the Garmin only needs 3Volts, otherwise I could have powered it of the same source.Any suggestions are welcome, but no, I don't need the 5watt Uniden.
in reply to: I’ll need to try one of those :-) #13062With a bit of luck I'll be able to get my hands on one (or two) in 2011.
in reply to: OFF ROAD ADVENTURE COACHING #12471Not a problem, two people have pulled out, so there is room. See you at the Bakehouse Cafe. It might be a good idea if everybody who came brought $150, in case there are unannounced drop outs.
in reply to: Bikers Against ACC Levies #13054Thanks for posting this. You could just down a screen capture programme and capture the PDF. That's quick and easy and useful for other stuff.
in reply to: Auckland Area Rep. wanted #12873Cool, turn up at the next meeting, should be an interesting one anyway. Much appreciated, I think you'll be perfect for the job. I am sure Richard K. would be available to help as well. I've just posted the remaining rides, and I am happy to complete these. So your job wouldn't start until February anyway. As for U-turns, I think I've already trained them up for you. Well, a couple are still practicing. I think the main qualification is to have a motorcycle and to actually turn up for the rides. You can have my back catalog of rides, if only to remind yourself where not to go. You won't have any problems with the monthly reports as you write much more elogeuntly, elowquently, more betterer than me.I can do some of the gravel rides and adventure rides, and maybe even some classic bike rides. As long as the knobbies on the R80 aren't too new. You'll even get a key to the forum for posting rides.
in reply to: Auckland Area Rep. wanted #12871Still looking. At this rate there won't be any organized rides in 2010. I've just posted the last lot.
in reply to: Nother new member #13021Welcome to the forum, Mike. You could upload your pictures to photobucket.com and link to them. This will give you nice large pictures. Otherwise you can reduce their size by right-clicking on them and sending them to an email recipient. Of course you won't send them, but this action should give you the option to reduce the size for emailing. You can then just copy the attached email images from the email and save them to where you want. The email can them be deleted. I hope that makes sense.
in reply to: WIMA Pink Ribbon Ride Oct.11 #12283THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUHiPlease pass onto your members .....Thank you so so much for attending the 6th annual WIMA Auckland Branch Pink Ribbon Ride 2009. We had our biggest day yet and it was a huge success with 440+ bikes & and estimated 600-700 participants (we counted the bikes with sheep counters but not the participants !!!). We are so glad we had found a bigger start venue this year as our previous one would not have coped. A ceremonial cheque presentation of $11,400 was given to Suzanne of the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation at the end of the prize giving on Sunday but once all the accounts are completed it is more than likely that the actual amount will be in excess of that total when a formal cheque presentation takes place at the NZBCF offices next Thursday 22 October. Keep an eye out on the WIMA website ... http://www.wima.org.nz for the final figure. If you would like to view video clips and photos of the day just click on the following link: Video clips http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pink+ribbon+ride&search_type=&aq=f Photos http://www.wima.org.nz and then click on the Auckland Branch photo and this will take you to Picasa and the WIMA Auckland Branch 2009 photos To view other photos click on http://picasaweb.google.com/WIMAchicks Next year's ride is scheduled for Sunday 10 October 2010 - please schedule it in on your rides calendar & diaries. Again, from the WIMA Auckland Branch members and Pink Ribbon Ride 2009 committee ....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUWe couldn't have done it without you. in reply to: First time rider #13018Neat report. Looks like we've got another one hooked :-).
in reply to: New ACC Levies #12975Alright then, lets vote for the Maori party 😀
in reply to: New ACC Levies #12972The easiest way to fix it is if we pledge our vote to Rodney Hide, he seems to have the right idea :-). That's the only language politicians understand, vote or no vote. That's also how democracy works.
in reply to: What to do if cycle was in storage for 12 months #13015Put some fresh petrol in and try to start it. I'd say your battery is toast, but maybe you'll get lucky. Take it for a ride to warm it up and then change the oil and filter. I'd also change the brake fluid and clutch fluid. Enjoy your ride.
in reply to: New ACC Levies #12971This can be easily policed by a GPS chip in your registration sticker.
So you've changed your mind on personal freedom?
in reply to: New ACC Levies #12968BRONZ doesn't have a presence in Wellington, where most of the legislative work takes place. There's a real opportunity to get in front of the policy makers down here. I put my hand up once to co-ordinate things for them – stony silence from that end.
Got this from KiwibikerNext BRONZ (Auckland ) meeting is 21st Oct.7:30 pm . Rockridge Road, Penrose.Place is called the Danish House. Parking out front.Major agenda item will , of course, be ACC levies, and possible responses to them. It'd be nice to see a few more than the half dozen stalwarts there. But I'm not holding my breath. If there is a good attendance, the Chairman will be enforcing rather more of a formal meeting process than usual, just to stop things getting out of hands.A few ground rules for said meeting may as well be played through now:1. We all know it's evil and unfair. No point preaching to the choir. So, no speeches along those lines. (Just because of time constraints) 2. We all know that bike accidents are caused by cagers. Or not. So unless you have evidence none of us know about, again, no preaching to the choir.3. Personally, I'm receptive to direct action. But some degree of realism is required. So no explosives etc4. What IS required is reasons WHY we shouldn't pay what ACC *claim* we cost. Factual. Specific. So if you know something, or you are good at crunching statistics, that might be useful.5. If it does come to something formal, only financial paid up BRONZ members get to vote (though I wouldn't expect such formality).6. We aren't going to convince the Government to abolish ACC, or totally change the way it operates. Politics is the art of the possible. So the chairman will cut short any discussions along such lines. Which includes philosophical debate on whether ACC should be privatised or not. The chairman (I'm told) is a grumpy old cunt. Try not to rile him too much. BRONZ (Wellington) does not exist . So if anyone can volunteer to coordinate matters in the capital, that might be good.
