Have you sold it? Make sure he keeps it covered in cling wrap, while he rides it back down to foggy bottom.
in reply to: Wellington – Club Ride #15298I guess I am too far away to go anyway, but really, that's not much to go on. I've just check the calendar and the ride is on the 14th of August. Will be people be leaving from a set point at a predetermined time, or meet at the mystery location?
in reply to: ACC Levies to be cut?????? #15303The turnaround in ACC's finances results from improved rehabilitation, reduced claim numbers and better management costs, for which the board and staff deserve credit.
Strange, I would have said it was because they just about doubled what we have to pay.
in reply to: Curmudgeonly Greetings #15246I am not sure how many would be interested. I know there are some airheads hanging out at Kiwibiker. Raglan/Kawhia would be good. It would also be easy to extend it into a two day affair by staying at Awakino or Whangamommona and then heading across to Taumaruni via some of the neat back roads over there.
in reply to: R1200 Hover Bike #15275I don't think it can be stabilized without the four straps tethering it to the ground. The centre of gravity is way too high and the torque reaction would be quite severe. With a couple of wheels it would make a great lawnmower.
in reply to: Sad about the 1100 ADV……………. #15258Yes, you guys are right. No let's do the same thing again. This time down a gravel road, with some corners thrown in and with full panniers on every bike.

in reply to: Curmudgeonly Greetings #15243Hi Oscar, how is the new bike going. It certainly looks like a beauty. I didn't know you had an XT. Every now and then one pops up at trade me and I start drooling again. I am thinking of organizing an Airhead GS only ride. A full day or even overnight, as much gravel as possible, but with enough time to smell the roses. I guess the Waikato area would be the best choice, even though it's a bit out of my way these days. I am also quite keen to make an excursion to Pouto Point, as I've never been there. That's going north of course.
in reply to: Gerbing heated Vest liner #15176I've been using the heated vest for a while in the mornings. The vest allows me to wear what I would wear around work, without needing to carry the extra bulk of jackets or jumpers under my riding gear. My BMW coverall is not really designed for cold weather riding, as there are no liners in there. It's nice and light and has a reasonably snug fit. This means that bulky gear underneath would only restrict my movement. I actually found the large back protector of the suit provides additional insulation and helps the vest perform better. I've been running the power at 75%, leaving me another 25% once we have those frosty mornings. In short, I am happy with the performance of the vest.
in reply to: Little and loacal to Piha. #15238Neat, makes me regret again that I've sold my canoe. Those Klepper Kayaks have been around for a long time. I think they fit into a relatively small bag, but I wonder how hard it is to assemble one.

in reply to: What’s yours called #14698I've caved in. My white R80GS has now become Basil, with a bit of imagination you can see where it came from. No, not because it just had a fawlty starter motor.
