in reply to: Oil & Petrol #4970
Hi Tracy,
I've used the 98 Octane a couple of times, got it in my car as well. That does seem to make a performance difference. I am not fuzzy about the oil. I use the correct grade to top up what ever they've put in at the last service. I top up with the same stuff I use in the cars and that's castrol 15w40. Oil changes by the book , every 10000km. For me that's been roughly after 6 month. I am planning to keep my bike for a long time.
Cheers,

Of course with the ECC there are many other benefits as well. Radar-detector doesn't let you take your right-hand off to stretch and relax on long trips. Also removes all the ANXIETY from the trip - set and forget - no more speedo watching - spend more time enjoying the ride and the country-side.
Of course in the low risk areas.....
I'm very happy with the ECC and frankly couldn't be bothered with a radar detector these days.
Whatever you decide - good luck and good riding.
Phrmer
and Herr PHRMER forgot to mention who put him onto the ECC unit after he had his pushbike holiday/
and as I said b4 ya gotta know the low risk areas. Wairoa towards Waikeremoana isn't it Phrmer.
Didn't we get stopped somewhere along that road on the last mahia trip?in reply to: Ride To Te Akau Wharf #4965You may have disabled the cookies option. The forum won’t recognize you without cookies enabled.

You mean like the one in the left bottom corner?in reply to: Coolant type… #4962I’ve been using distilled water in my car. It’s cheap enough in the warehouse or supermarket.
Is there a manual for the CS as well, or is that covered by the the F650 GS manual? In that case I'll wait until Malcolm buys yours and them pester him for a photo copy of the relevant pages.in reply to: Coolant type… #4955I know this is not going to help either, but I always thought the cooland should be phospate and silica free.
I didn't know about the nitrate, either. I have decided to service Gerda's bike myself. So this interesting to me as well. Malcolm, is there a haynes manual for the GS/CS series of bikes? I figure the fairing will be a pain to take off. I had to take the rear half of the bike apart, just to change the tail light. The only positive thing is that the fasteners aren't made of japanese cheese steel like on my CX500.in reply to: Coolant type… #4952Is it for a bike or your car?
in reply to: U.S. imports #4942I now that these things are routinely removed. Not sure if they impact on power.
in reply to: U.S. imports #4940The only differences I can think of are that the headlight may not be aiming correctly and that they have some wierd emission control related fittings. It must be a really cheap price if you are going through all that trouble.

Neko and Dick were there, but no cameraman.in reply to: New forum format #4873Well, it’s up to them. I am sure people will use it eventually. I’ve got holidays coming up and maybe we’ll get in a gravel ride. TonyS also has a GS, maybe he’ll come along.
in reply to: Radar Detectors #4857*test* Thanks Dean, that’s fixed it.
