in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5069
Oh, I am not worried. I think it's great to get another view. I think this is the one, but I am not sure.
in reply to: Abandoned weatherboard buildings -Post them here- #5067Yahoo, success at last, problem is now remembering where they all were !!!!!!!!!!
This one has already been submitted by me ๐
in reply to: R80GS Basic brake light question #6662Ok, it must be the switch. Neil has one in stock, so I'll no for sure soon enough. Thanks for your help.Cheers,Alex
in reply to: R80GS Basic brake light question #6661I've had another play with the switch. By fiddling with the switch and the wires attached to it I could make it work. However, the switch appeared to be heating up, which has me worried. I am tempted to remove the insultation around the switch to get a better look. Is there a plug on the other end of the the wire? I couldn't see one, even after removing the tank.
in reply to: R80GS Basic brake light question #6659Thanks for the detailed reply Garry. I'll have another look at the switch, from memory the pin was blackish. With the switch removed I would have expected the brakelight to come on, which it didn't. So this seems to point to a damaged wire somewhere along the line. Can the the switch be disassembled?ย I did notice the the wire did not swivel in the housing as I removed the switch, so I am concerned that I may have wrung its neck.
in reply to: Mercedes Trike #6664Hi Malcolm, good to see that you've found a solution to your oil change access problem, but why the colour change? I liked the yellow ๐Have a Merry Christmas.Cheers,Alex
in reply to: Suggestions for a Poor Lost Yankee? #6644Welcome to the forum emmby. I must say that I've almost deleted your registration, we've got so many fake sign-ups at the moment. Henry doesn't really do email, but I know that Neil checks his. So if you get no answer put in a service request :-).ย You might be able to sort out some sort of a buy back deal. On the other hand, if you do have two weeks in Auckland you should be able to organize a bike from a private seller. Let us know when you arrive, we might be able to sort out a ride. Cheers,Alex
in reply to: Looking for a loud horn #6581Yep, a bit of fun doesn't hurt. We are having a German Christmas this year. My parents are over from Germany and my mum and daughter have been busy baking. The weather is a bit of a bummer at the moment, but I am sure it will come right. Have an excellent Christmas and a successful and happy New Year. Although I enjoy gravel as much as the next person I still like to keep the wheel pointing downwards. I'll leave the falling off to others (knock on wood)
in reply to: Airhead brake upgrade #6595Neat pictures Steve, the bikes are looking good. I have a bike with brakes, the basic is for a more leisurely pace. But you are right, it is a cheap mod and I will look into it.
in reply to: Looking for a loud horn #6577I haven't gone through anybodyย yet ๐ loud horns save lifes ๐ Well, I did get close to a pedestrian who crossed stationary traffic, but neglected to look for bikes on the bus lane. I managed to stop, and I know there would have been no time to toot. However, I nice loud horn would alert people to the fact that they've intruded into my comfort zone and therefore increase their awarness of bikes. Kicking their door in would be peharbs be excessive, but a little toot is a public service.
in reply to: Looking for a loud horn #6575I prefer to wake people up. Some people are passengers in their own car, they get in and turn up at their destination; everything in between is a blurr to them. I make allowances for older people. ๐ฟ
in reply to: Remembering the passing of an era #6604Oh, perhaps I should throw a birthday party for my bike. I can think of a couple of presents for it ๐
in reply to: Looking for a loud horn #6571I use the horn preemptively. I can ususally anticipate that they are about to do something stupid, so that's what the horn is for. If I am rushed I often indicate in anger, though somehow this doesn't seem to have the same impact. Is there a particular brand you can recommend? Bike electrics are a mystery to me so I will leave the installation of the wiring to someone who is familiar with this black art.
in reply to: Airhead brake upgrade #6591I would be interested, but I am not sure if it is needed. On gravel the brakes are fine and on the road the knobblies will be the limiting factor. Did you get a picture of Mr Bell north of Auckland, it is supposedly a very rare event, or so he saysย ๐
in reply to: Looking for a loud horn #6567An air horn you reckon? I would probably scare myself. would this be straight forward to install?
