Hey guy's…Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.. wish I was home to help in Chch, but glad the family weren't there.Just got a TOMTOM Rider 1 through ebay... I don't need it to do much more than the basic's... has to be better than a map, or the wife trying to read one ;DNot a bad price... $280NZ for it, including postage from the US. Complete with bike mount. Will see how that all goes when I go to fit the thing.
in reply to: US – NZ Bike Swap Enquiry #14523I might be able to help out in this one.Just need to talk to home and find out if my bike is still easy access. A couple of minor logistic issues may need to be taken care of. Will be able to find out more the next time I'm on skype.Dave
in reply to: The GS thing……..does anyone else not get it? #14400This is great reading. Gravel or off road isn't for everyone. I just hate being afraid of anything. If I can get out and increase my skills and have a laugh at the end of the day then I'm up for it!Isn't that what we are all about? Only another few months and I'll get my baby out for a good ride.
in reply to: The GS thing……..does anyone else not get it? #14392Thanks Bwucie,Don't know if I'll get away with having two bikes, at least not until the wife is on a full licence and She can ride the 650 during the week and I can play with it on the weekend. Will have to wait and see how this current weight gain option works for me...3kgs in 5 weeks and loving it.
in reply to: The GS thing……..does anyone else not get it? #14390Hey all,I've been reading through and found that I enjoy getting on gravel, sh@tting my self and learning from the whole thing. I've had my bike for 4yrs now and really keen to get more adventure k's up.But with time away, it has given me a chance to think...I'm a light guy (70kgs wet) :o, should I be looking at the F800GS to fit the bill?? My big con to the whole thing is to up riding, would the 800 do this? Will my wife love me after 10 - 15 days of being on the back of the bike?the 1150GS does the job two up and on gravel fully loaded. Thoughts??Dave
in reply to: R1150GS brake/speedo cable guide #14211I asked about the recall and refit by BMW. Check of the bike number and it was a no go.Time to have a look at and sort the problem out.

in reply to: 2010 BMW F800R #13990Go the 1150GS, just clocked up the majic 100,000 miles.
in reply to: Input shaft and clutch spline damage #13688Hey Billy,Just had mine replaced. From what I got from Jim Tunnicliffe was that due to there being insufficient grease, there was nowhere for the heat to go. Don't know how long mine had not been greased, say 40k before the splines gave up. Big one I got was to make sure that you make sure a good mechanic does the work and uses the right grease. My bike was just clocking up 160k, with Jim saying that all going well, the shaft should last 250 - 300k. Don't know if there is an easy way to check without getting the back end off though... and not something I will be trying.Hope this helps.Dave
