    both Gentle Annie and the Forgotten World Highway have only relatively short gravel sections (mores the pity) – of the order of 30km.Looks like you ride an R100R which should be fine - subject of course to how recently the gravel on each of these roads has been graded. have fun and enjoy your refreshing time out - cheers Aslan

    Hi Pete – you've already had a lot of constructive feedback.I have an '02 travelled 58000. I've put 34000 of those Kms on in the almost 3 years I've had it.They are a great all roads tourer - fun in gravel when set up right. For serious adventure riding like the CCA they are IMHO too heavy. I regard mine as very predictable great for covering big distances. Rode mine from Alex to Picton in a day after the Rally - effortless.Another thing to be aware of re the 1150GS (not Adventure) is that first gear is tall,Good luck - cheers Aslan

    reach Ryan Cooney and his fellow Cantbrians over on Kiwi Biker (cooneyr is his handle) – these know the South Island trails pretty well. have fun cheers Aslan
