in reply to: Dec7 AKL Lunch ride to the Coroglen Pub #11285
Hi AlexI will be going on the sealed road all the way - both ways if that is of help. Dirt roads and LT's don't really mix 😀
in reply to: A Far, Far North Ride Report. #8578Hi Garry and Dean, didn't get to see the old Roman Villa but saw the signs to it and will return there one day as we liked the area very much and want to explore it some more. The pub is well worth having a pint or two in and also deserves a second look 😀 And yes Dean, Lesley had the heated seat on before she even sat on it and proior to leaving the meeting point had organised a comfort stop – sound familiar? 😆
in reply to: Leslie and Ingel’s Trip to Europe #7876Hi Alex and All.We are currently in France in a tiny place called Mouhers with a population of around 250. Very quiet and peaceful. The trailer is in having repairs to bearings (which I had done in NZ before we left) and having the sides strengthen to take Lesley's shoes 😀 We are planing to head towards Italy tomorrow with a bit of luck. The bike is just lapping up the K's and so are we. Will try to update our website soon but email here is limited and uses old technology so can't upload files at the monent. Take care all.RegardsIngel and Lesley
in reply to: I’m sorry, you can’t ride your bike #7677Hi AlexWe havn't yet started our touring. Waitng for the paperwork to catch up with the bike, so just laying low in the meantime. Finding it difficult and frustrating working within the English way of doing things but time will heal all - we hope. Really looking forward to setting off to Europe but just may do a couple of weeks in southern UK first to get into the swing of things.Cheers, Ingel

in reply to: Register ride to Matarangi #7042Yes it was a great day and a great ride. Nice pics Alex. As for the fuel I would like to blame it on the ……heat …..um :|…….lack of water :-P…..um :|…… the planets weren't aligned properly ….. :-D :-D :-D. Actualy I was trying to keep the tank as low as possible so I didn't have to drain any fuel out today for shipment and simply misjudged it :-o. Again it was a good day 😀
in reply to: Westpac Run #6761We'll be there. It's a great cause and service which I hope non of us will ever need to use.
in reply to: Helmet Intercom #5001Thanks Pierre (and welcome)After purchasing a cheap unit from Amalgamate, which lasted about 6 months, I bought a Starcom1 Advance unit following the recommendation of several BMWOR members. It's brilliant!. Running rider to pillion, GPS, radio/cd and ipod. Took several attempts to get the sound balance right but haven't touched it now for a long time. To me it is great value for money although some of the cables can be expensive. Like the idea of the earpieces, though. Cheers
in reply to: ’07 Nat Rally #6689Annual Rally – NapierThe picture:- background is the Tobacco Company, a famous historic building in Napier- the scenery shot is looking from Te Mata Peak towards Napier- bike shots are of the Gymkhana held on Saturday morning- the two lower corner pics are of the Dinner held at Kennedy Park on Saturday night.A great time was had by all 🙂
in reply to: Coromandel Adventure Ride #6522Some nice pic's. Looks like you had an awesome day. Is your stand electric? 🙄
in reply to: New Chinese Tow Trucks (?) #6515I found the text below at zedomax.comWhat you’re looking at here is a Honda Goldwing motorcycle with a special attachment you’re not going to find as an option at any dealership. The Towcycle (probably not its actual name) is capable of a very impressive transformation that would make any Autobot proud. A large mechanism on the back of the bike unfolds via a series of pistons and motors to reveal a trailer that can actually be used to tow cars. Now keep in mind the Towcycle is probably no where near as versatile as an actual tow-truck but apparently they’ve been used in the UK at least where narrow roads can occasionally cause problems for full sized trucks. And while the trailer has its own braking system that is linked to the motorcycle’s brakes the Towcycle can only haul (and safely stop) cars of a certain weight or size. 😎Take a look at the video link below. This is the prototype developed in Sweden.http://motorcycles.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.exn.ca/video/%3Fvideo=exn20040414%2Dtowbike.asx
Looks like you people in Wellington had a great ride and……….. Go Gerda!
I also would like to echo Alex's sentiments. As new members, Lesley and I were looking forward to the AGM – meeting club members and putting faces to names. Once the meeting started we were astounded at the “passion” some members had towards some issues and the Excecutive. Comments were made about new members “taking a long look at themselves” – however, it seems when they do their new ideas are not easily accepted. We think the register should be about riding and enjoying BMW motorcycles in a social atmosphere without the angst that was shown at this meeting. 😀
