in reply to: New ACC Levies #12999

This is what I got back……..Michael Woodhouse to me show details Nov 17 (1 day ago) Dear Tharon Thank you for your email regarding the proposed increases in ACC motorcycle levies for 2010/11.  I’m responding to you directly as the Government’s representative in Dunedin. As you are probably aware, the final decision is made by Cabinet on the basis of ACC’s recommendations following the submissions process and you can be confident that the Corporation and Government have been made very aware of the views of motorcyclists on this issue. The levies ACC are recommending Government agree to, and which are the subject of the present consultation process, are extremely high and are unlikely to be agreed to.  Nevertheless, the incidents, severity and cost of motorcycle crash injuries are not reflected in current levies.  The cost of injuries in motorcycle crashes is about four times higher than injuries in other motor vehicle crashes.  It will be necessary to increase levies to more fairly reflect the true cost of treatment, rehabilitation and compensation of those injured in motorcycle accidents, but you can be confident that the voice of the motorcyclists has been well and truly heard. Thank you again for taking the time to write. Kind regards Michael Woodhouse MPDunedin +64 3 477 7330 l Wellington +64 4 817 8224

My bike are fitted with extra lights. They work off the same switch as the high beam switch . Was done by BMW.When I brought my bike in with me from South Africa it went through all the tests from all the departments and passed. All they were interested in was the brake test report from BMW.In the meantime moved and took bike for WOF again. Also no problem.

in reply to: R1150GS Fuel lines #9013

The 2001 model will make a buzzing noise when you switch the ignition on, ( that will be from the pump and injectors ) That will tell you that the injectors got fuel in the system. The bike start up with that fuel in the system. If you swap the pypes around, the bike will not start. The other thing to look at is the right hand side fuel cable, is it still in the adjusting cradle.

Lisbon, Friday the 4th of January 2008A.S.O. cancels the 2008 edition of the Dakar rallyAfter different exchanges with the French government - in particular the Ministry for Foreign Affairs - , and based on their firm recommendations, the organisers of the Dakar have taken the decision to cancel the 2008 edition of the rally, scheduled from the 5th to the 20th of January between Lisbon and Senegal’s capital.Based on the current international political tension and the murder of four French tourists last 24th of December linked to a branch of Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb, but also and mainly the direct threats launched directly against the race by terrorist organisations, no other decision but the cancellation of the sporting event could be taken by A.S.O.A.S.O.’s first responsibility is to guarantee the safety of all: that of the populations in the countries visited, of the amateur and professional competitors, of the technical assistance personnel, of the journalists, partners and rally collaborators. A.S.O. therefore reaffirms that the choice of security is not, has never been and will never be a subject of compromise at the heart of the Dakar rally.A.S.O. condemns the terrorist menace that annihilates a year of hard work, engagement and passion for all the participants and the different actors of the world’s biggest off-road rally. Aware of the huge frustration, especially in Portugal, Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal, and beyond the general disappointment and the huge economical consequences in terms of direct and indirect repercussions for the countries visited, A.S.O. will continue to defend the major values of great sporting events and will carry on its engagement for a durable development through the Actions Dakar, started 5 years ago in sub-Saharan Africa with SOS Sahel International. The Dakar is a symbol and nothing can destroy symbols. The cancellation of the 2008 edition does not endanger the future of the Dakar. To offer, for 2009 a new adventure to all the off-road rally passionate is a challenge that A.S.O. will take on in the months to come, faithful to its engagement and its passion for sports. 😡 😡 😡 😡
