Some interesting posts here. 😀 But it occurs I must be soooooo unimaginative. We go for a ride on the “GS” or the “C” and if it has to be the four wheeled transport is either the “van” or the “yellow car”I should say we named our kids and our dogs though. We'll have to work on this. ::)
I call my R1150GS,…….wait for it…..G S. Sometimes I call it the black GS, because I also have a white GS. The white GS sometimes gets called the R80. Mostly I refer to either one as “my bike”.

I have it on authority from none other than Norbert Eichblatt, who called his K100 "K100", that, "The German sense of humour is not to be laughed at." I suspect it is because of this fact that Alex has named his bikes so humorously.
My GS is called, wait for it, “My bike” and my DR is “My little bike” or sometimes the “Black bike”

See we already have a name for your bike Jim,its the "Starship Enterprise" with all those dashboard gadgets spread out across the bridge !!!!"It's a motorcycle Jim" "but not as we know it"Only a Trekkie will get that one.......

I'm with you Malc,I've got "the Cruiser", "the Zed", and the "Msports." If I called it with a name there' be trouble in 'ouse: As the French have Masc and Fem form for nouns, These are fem!
I've caved in. My white R80GS has now become Basil, with a bit of imagination you can see where it came from. No, not because it just had a fawlty starter motor.

It's because I stumbled onto this http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267424
