Gerda and I went to the Beach Hop in Whangamata for the first time. Since I recently got a new digicam with 8mb storage, I just kept snapping pictures of what ever caught my eye. Don't ask me anything about the cars, I wouldn't know what year they were beyond a rough guess. I should have stopped where the Corvettes were parked as well, but there is always a next time. The crowd had a real Westie feel to it, lots of people reliving their youth, or what they thought their youth should have been like :-). I followed a nice 64 Corvette convertible into Thames and followed a Ferrari Dino out of Thames. Thankfully the traffic was bearable and I still got to enjoy the roads over the hill. It was nice to be back on the 1150 and to have full power, I hope. I love the way this bike corners. The Tiger I recently rode along the same stretch of road was not nearly as confidence inspiring. Of course these things take a while to get used to.Anyway, here it goes...This boat was tied up at the wharf Here is a selection of my favourites..
Thanks for that Alex, some VERY nice cars in there.Ian
what Ian said Alex – Red is obviously the colour for these cars – see you at the RAG
I have just had four days at Beach Hop. The variety of cars are truly amazing and you will never see so many cars in one pass like this in a great setting. Its worth a trip. But ya better book accommodation early or ride in for the day. the Westie comment, yip plenty of Boguns around but all pretty good people but just like the Bogun factor. 227 people arrested in 3 days mainly for Breaching the Liquor ban. 11 day one 120 day 2 and the rest on day 3.Mainly youth whom were Young clowns were arrested and our zero tolerance keeps things from getting out of hand and makes it a nice family affair. Trouble makers were certainly picked out and kept in our company for most of the night. What a calming effect spending some time with us has. Those whom preform get to stay longer and learn very quickly co-operation is the best policy. We had about 4 whom decided that wanted a second visit of the cells and these guys had a wonderful second extended visit. got to leave just before 5am Of those only about 6 Hot Rodders came thru and they were guys whom walked out of a bar or property to look at a car passing by. sorry but Zero tolerance. These guys did go away satisfied with the service they got. Also one of the bands was a bit late starting to play as we had a couple of the members. I have 277 photos but these are unfortunately shots of mainly peoples faces.
