Can it be done? Changing the display from kPa to psi?

Hi Daffy ,Hows the back? I don't think You can change it those Germans love their Kpa,if it could change it might end up reading in miles.Just keep it up around 2.5/2.9 bar[cold] F/R and You should be ok.

The 12 now has a gifted Givi top box, and I haven't been able to ride it at all. Admiring it is about as goof as it has gotten.I'll stick with kPa, just gotta get my head around it.

You can certainly change between units of measurement, unfortunately, I think it's only via dealer computer that you can change between bar and PSI.My GSA reads in PSI.

I can certainly agree with the “got to get my head around it” statement. As a mechanic trained in the days of foot's and inche's these metric things are just confusing  😮Until you start to grasp the simplicity of the whole system. Air pressure at sea level (14.695 950 254 psi allegedly  8)), volume and distance all come together in the metric system with consumate ease  🙂1 bar equals 1 (standard) atmosphere (well 0.98692316931 if you want to be German about it)  or 100 kilopascals.  ???Therefore 2.5 bar equals 36.259434502 psi. Simple as mate  8)Alternativly you could forget about converting everything to anything and just learn to work with the guage you have  :-[Either that or get a thrupennce haapny worth of alterations dun  ;D

I'm going to do a severe modification, at least by my non-modifying standards.I'm going to get a label maker, and make a label with the upper and lower limits, and stick it somewhere I can see it.There, problem solved. From what I gather, the majority of users just use the TPI to tell them if a serious problem is developing. Most apparently still use a tyre pressure gauge. E.g. check the tyres with your trusted gauge, then use the TPIs as dynamic monitoring devices.Makes me think of the temperature gauge on my now ex-F800. I used to just know it was fecking cold, then the F800 told me exactly how fecking cold it was. Sometimes it was better not to know.

Haha, but the exact temperature helps you know the new record you're setting yourself. I've seen as high as 53 on the BMW and had my previous KTM down to -3.8 I think. BMW has only gone down to about -2.The BMW TPM read out is adjusted against the ambient temperature, so basically it isn't reading out the exact current tyre pressure so there is a degree of inaccuracy actually being built in. If you're pedantic then you'd have to use a gauge. The system will alert you if pressure goes too far out (the GSA is about 24 PSI in the tyre) so otherwise, I use it to see if the tyre is gradually losing pressure... definitely don't use it for an accurate read, but the close-enough is good-enough for me at least...Also remember your pressures should vary according to your load. BMW recommends an increase in pressure if you're carrying a pillion...

If I was going to be fussy about it, I'd park the bike up and never use it for anything other than playing home-mechanic with.Nah, I actually want to use it, and the dynamic tyre pressure display will not rule my life.Tally ho......
