Did any of you try synchronising the throttle body's with a Twinmax, and if so,did you find a noticable difference with normal mercury sticks ? At the ADV forum peoplego realy anal about the synchronising bussiness. Personally I never noticed that muchdifference in vibration levels after doing the job with mercury...
I've bought a Twinmax a few weeks ago. Will be using it next week for the first time. Last time TonyS did the synch for me, but no adjustment was needed. Some of the Advrider people are drama queens when it comes to wrenching on the bike, as can be seen the tutorials. A simple valve adjustment reads like a manual for brain surgery. I did however save a really good write- up on the replacement of the final drive bearings. To come back to your original question, your mercury set up will be just as good for synchronising the throttle bodies. If you are in Auckland you are welcome to borrow my twin max to verify your setting.

The best write ups are on http://www.ukgser.com. . Check out the stickies by “Steptoe” in the technical section.
My apologies – that should be “Font of all Wisdom” section
I've used the twin max on the 1150 a couple of days ago. It wasn't hard to do, but I still had to do it twice, as the first time I forgot to set the idle speed and just condentrated on the balance setting. Now it's running really well. Unfortunately the hoses onthe twin max are a tad too large, I had to compensate by wrapping a bit of tape around the vacuum fitting on the throttle body.

No, I think that's getting carried away:-). It was fine up to 4000 rpm. The bike feels really good right now. I may have to tweak the Poly V-belt a bit more, it slips just a little bit on start up. But I figure better slightly loose than too tight. I still get a bit of pinging under hard acceleration, but no surging. I may also look into updating my left cam chain tensioner, there is an upgrade available.
AnonymousGuest03/05/2007 at 6:33 pmPost count: 2134Hi Alex, I just did the service on my 1150gs and i see that you offered to share the use of your adjuster thingy; that's all I have left to do. I wondered if you could let me know if and when it might be convenient for you to let me use it to tune in my ports . cheers Christoph my phone no is 8209382
I hope you've noticed an improvement.Cheers,Alex
Can someone tell me where I can purchase a Twinmax from?Cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum. I bought my twinmax from this website as it was the cheapest at the time.http://www.casporttouring.com/thestore/twinmax.htmlYou are welcome to have a go using mine if you want.
Re throtle body sinc. Have a look at this link a piece of tube bent like a horse shoe filled with oil is all you need more accurate than mercury as oil is lighter therefore moves further when TB are out of sinc. I have a a piece of hard board with with tube hot glued to it with reference lines ruled on it at 90deg to the parallel tubes works well.http://www.650ccnd.com/mano.htmDont forget all the other things you must do before throtle sinc. Plugs, valve clearance and checking the throtle position switch voltage (oil heads ) are all worth checkinggood luck All the best boGSer
