Today, we saw the first inaugural bike ride with BMWOR and the Mangawhai Motorcycle Collective with the Annual Duke of Marlborough Fish and Chips Run. There were equal representation from both organisations. Bwucie rode up from Auckland and the other three were arriving locally. We set out as it was about to rain. And it did. We went Mangawhai Heads to Kaiwaka, Mangatapere, then a coffee stop at Twin Bridges. Then still in rainy conditions into Kaikohe. We crossed over to the back of Kerikeri, where a nasty and obviously quite serious accident slowed progress. Into Piahia, then to Opua for the ferry. Into Russell, where we broke several quite serious local motoring restrictions to arrive at the Duke of Malborough pub for fish and chips. There were two cruise ships in so it was bit of a sh’tfight in both Piahia and Russell, but we got out in good time. Then we tackled the Old Coast Road. This is a serious bit of riding, with more ups and down than Tiger Woods and more turns than Australians get to bat with their own umpires. We had squally rain all day, and the gale forecast foe sea area Brett was evident when we got our littles butts blown all over the place especially on the Ruakaka straights.Anyway we got back to Mangawhai and had a hot shower and a cold beer, while Bwucie rode down SH 16. He was excellent company and a very good man to ride with. Thanks Bwucie.Look out for the next joint ride. Actually, ignore that. Up where we were joints were the mainstay of the economy!See youse out there!CheersLoins Here is a good pic but I don't know how to make it happen.Users/paultremewan/Desktop/IMG_0726.JPG
