Ian, Alan andAti (friend on Yamaha R1) came direct from Auckland to the start point, joined by BP Papakura departers: Graham J., Ingel & Lesley, Tony, President Dick and I. There were 5 riders on 3 bikes from Waikato, ledby Jan (Area rep). The weather was mostly dry but we met intermittent smallshowers all day, less in the afternoon. The ride left Ngaruawahia to Pirongia, Otorahanga, then (after minor detour), a back-country 40km loop toBosco's TeKuiti for lunch. This little 40km loop was in reversedirection from a portion of the Rusty Nuts 1000-miler of 2005 done byDick and I. After a nice lunch and a couple of riders returning directly home, the remaining 12 people rode nice, empty roads via Bennydale, Pureora, Mangakino, to Wharepapa South for afternoontea. After this, it was homewards via Kihikihi, Pirongia and fuelling with good-byes again at BP Ngaruawahia. The northern riders returned via the west side of the Waikatoriver to Rangiriri, then a rather busy motorway to Auckland (Home at 6.30pm).A long but enjoyable day, with great roads and great people. Thanks to Pres. Dick and Jan and all the others. My new K1200GT now has 1153km on odo, and booked for its 1st service tomorrow. A good distance for 5 days riding! As good as my R 1200ST was, the K1200GT is that much better in most every way, for me. I am really happy with this bike! Peter "GT"
