Are you taking some spanners so you can adjust the valves. 😮 You would have run out of hours by the time you ride the KTM down to Taupo or have you a trailer hitch on the back of the black beast. 👿

Well actually I'm expecting a bit of rain but that only adds to the excitement.Dave which track do you guys do on the 29th. We're up for Track 1.Sorry to divert the attention away from bike track days but I'm heading down for a wings and slick day. _________________________________________I haven't had a decent track day in a while so I've booked myself in for a Formula Challenge day next Wednesday in Taupo. Firstly if anyone is interested you're welcome to join us. So far there is me and a German friend of mine going down and another guy joining us. I'm getting him down there before he departs back home for a lovely summer. Less cars is better. Less chance of being held up in traffic. For those of you who don't know the place http://www.fcr.co.nz We're booked in for Wednesday the 6th with the 8th as a back up option. Saturday 2nd August Track 2 (Almost full) Wednesday 6 August Track 1 Friday 8th August Track 3 We're booked in for Wednesday 6th. Track 1 is the complete track with the huge long straight. We're doing the rookie package which is $695.00 in a wings and slick car. Three sessions on the track in the car and one session in your own car (or bike). So far this date has a small group. Real small. Just us two and a guy from Honolulu. I've done Track 2 before and that's immense fun in the dry. I'm not that keen on the wet because instead of cornering like we're on rails there'll be a bit of slipping. The advantage of course is that you get to practise car control so I'm still looking forward to it. I don't fancy racing around in a torrential downpour seeing as its an open cockpit. Track 3 is the far end of the track and ends up in a kind of sausage shape. Track 2 is the front end with 13 corners from memory. HELP WITH THE WEATHER Okay, I'm after the whiz on here with weather predictions. Is Wednesday going to be good weather? My thinking is "yes" because the rain can't continue for that long surely. If you are predicting a no go then we could bail for the track 3 day on Friday the 8th. They structure the laps so that you end up with the same overall track time and distance. Track 3 you do 10 laps; Track 2 you do 6 laps; Track 1 you do 5 laps If you've not done these cars before or wings and slicks feel free to post up. These cars use a Hayabusa motor, paddle shift on the wheel, clutch up and clutchless down (or was that the other way). They corner in the dry so fast that you're pinned against the side of the cockpit like some guy is punching you across. Stopping is unbelievable. Basically you hit the brakes, the car stops and the corner is still the same distance away. After each session you get telemetry printouts so you can compare with others and yourself. Generally guys go a lot quicker in the second session. After lunch its track time for your vehicle and then the final session. If there were more of us going and we were taking bikes we'd have to let them know because in the past they don't let the cars and bikes on the track at the same time. I know its short notice but I only phoned through yesterday. I'm just feeling like I need a little run and this seems like a good place to do it. TIN TOPS - Yes the guys have a race prepared V8 that you can hire and put around the track. OTHER OPTIONS - If you wanted to spend less time on the track there is a one session option for the Formula Challenge cars. There is also an option that lets you do a session in the tin top and open wheeler.
AnonymousInactive31/07/2008 at 4:56 pmPost count: 305Damn, you're going to get RSI and then you won't be doing ANY track days!!Yes, MotoTT usually uses the full track. Though in October they're trialling Track 2, which will be WAY better for motards. I havent tapped it out yet, but I think the KTM will be lucky to hit 190 on the straights with the current gearing. The K12R could manage 225 down Taupo's back straight, but it's much shorter than Pukekohe's (255).Check your email for weather analysis, but it doesn't look too bad.DTY
