The disappointing thing is no peck on the system 6. I may buy Barb one and strip her system 4 helmet of any bits for my 4.

That wouldn't bother me at all. The System 4 is not much of an adventure helmet anyway. I'll try one on once they arrive here, if it fits me I'll buy one for the Annual Rally tour. They quote a weight of 1570 grams, that's pretty good. Unless of course they'll ask silly prices for it. Then I'll just take the peak off the Hornet and used that instead.I don't actually need the sun visor, as I always ride with tinted safety glasses. That way I can ride with an open visor at speeds of up to 100km/h.  I found the Shoei Hornet adequate for most riding. It doesn't like buffeting wind, though.

The BMW helmets are already silly prices.

I guess so. It really depends on the fit, that would be the only way I could justify it. I liked the System 4. For  a while I thought that I'd never go back to a non-flip-up helmet,  but it hasn't been a hard ship with the Shoei.

They probably buy them 4 at a time, so the profit has to cover the airfare for the guy who brings them in  :-D.

Designer helmets in the UK are selling them for $1010.00 including freight.  🙂

That's what I did, but had to pay $160 in duty or gst or import tax or koha or some other state imposed levy. Fantastic.... a $20 head in a $1200 helmet: how does that work????Cheers Loins

I guess you were unlucky getting pinged for the GST  🙁  sometimes it gets through ok.

You're right, but I can't complaint being pinged. I've bought in a number of vintage guitars from the US and managed to be un-duty-fied, so on the overall scheme of things I'm still ahead… and still a head of the price of System 5 here… helmets… a-head: oh, very good unintentional punning by that man! Cheers Loins

I ordered a system 6 on the understanding I had to test ride the helmet when it arrives. It arrived last week so I took it out for a spin. Once on the motorway the visor came down, I thought not a problem I must have not had it up correctly so I put it back up but down it came time after time. Being a rider who likes the visor open I decided to pass on the system 6.The system 6 would be the best BMW system helmet I have tried for fit.Once home I checked on the UKGS forum and sure enough there was unhappy system 6 owners who had the same problem with the visor not staying up plus problems with the clips which hold the visor onto the helmet. My BMW enduro helmet is great up to 100kph and then it becomes noisy and a bit unsettled. I guess my system 4 has some more miles to cover. It is the best helmet I have owned to date.
