Yo! Peoples!Last week I initiated a mass email, with letters following to bounced addresses, to members who had not renewed for this year. A few didn't want to, for a variety of reasons, by far the majority had either forgotten, or didn't realise they were due. (Note to self: make a list of those varmints: not reading my Newsletter, Blog, or Forum - hmmmmmm!)I tried to reply personally to each reply that offered more than an, "Oops, sorry," type response. I told most of them I would ask the Five Wise Men (the Committee is composed of Five Wise Men, and Bwucie) if they would commit, beginning next year, to sending a personal reminder to every member on or about 01 July, when Subs become due.To a man they agreed, and even more betterer, Secretary Dave Oldershaw has already had a widget built which will automate the process. And I have a fallback plan if the widget doesn't fly on first application. We have nine months left to panel-beat the Widget into shape. This will, of course, be in the October Newsletter (September's is already at the printers). But I felt I should make some attempt to report back to those I had personally given an undertaking to push the barrow. I should send a courtesy message to each of them, but I am literally just off the Waka Holden after a 1260 Km round trip, and I'm tired, and this is as good as it gets. Those of you in that cohort that read this, I apologise. Those that don't read this, maybe they'll have forgotten all about it by October when the minutes are available, and I'll slide through with reputation intact. (Chances are high, because you forgot to renew, eh? ;D)I'm just a tad knackered right now.And before anybody climbs on a soap box or a high horse about my round trip mileage, I always have refused, always will refuse, to accept reimbursement: that's my koha to a group of people whose company I enjoy, so your cost was nil.Cheers,Bwucie
