Nearly quarter past nine, no other riders at Starbucks Westgate. Beauty, I'm headed back to the La-Z-Boy and the library book. Then there was another, and another, and finally six nothers, so away we went, in the general direction of Wellsford. By the time we got to Kumeu, we were in "scotch mist". Stopped at the far end of Peak Road, where it was becoming a regular drizzle, "You guys sure you want to go for a ride?" Yes all round. Carry on. By Glorit it's drying out a bit, and ten K's later it's all of a sudden fair dinkum rain. Stop for a cuppa at Wellsford, and it rains some more. "Right, ya buggars, follow me!" Whangaripo and Wayby Valley Roads back to the main drag, then on to Top o the Dome for lunch. Just a bit wet on arrival, so we left all the gear outside rather than flood the place out:
Wendy and god-daughter Charlie, and Mrs Red Baron joined us via cage for lunch, then it was back to Orewa after a good lunch for the ceremonial "ice cream in the rain". Charlie's little baby blues were
open: I don't think she's ever seen grown ups like us lot. Guess Paul and Wendy will have to explain we're bikers, and we grow old, not up.
