Dick and Neko are organising a trip in Japan to ride.We are determined and we have already purchased our flight tickets. For people who don't know Dick & Neko:Dick lived in Japan for three years, as his wife is Japanese.Neko is a member of BMWOR who lives in NZ and she is Japanese. This trip is one-off and we will not organise it again, as it is not cheap. 🙁Perhaps, it is the best time to travel Japan due to strong NZD currency. 🙂WHEN?The tour starts Sunday 19/Oct and ends Sunday 2/Nov.It is Autumn in Japan and we are looking forward to seeing nice Autumn coloured scenery.HOW MUCH?We have no intention to make any profit from the tour, therefore, you pay for your cost. The current "guestimate" of the total cost of the trip is around
- NZ$4600 +
- Hiring a motorcycle based on 400CC ($800 - $1000) +
- Air fee
The $4600 inculdes, Express Way Tolls, Petrol, Accommodation, Food and miscellaneous (e.g. entry fees to sightseeing venues). It is calculated as at NZ$1 = 76 yen.
ITINERARYThe current rough itinerary is as follows.Arrive in Tokyo, Narita Airport, and travel towards west and come back.Examples of place to visit: Iroha-Zaka - Motegi circuit : A race circuit complex. We will look at the circuit and visit
Honda Collection Hall(click here) and watch ASIMO in action. ASIMO(click here) is a human robot created by Honda.
- Nikko: Nikko Toshogu(click here). Established for the first Edo shogun in 1617. We are hoping to ride Iroha-Zaka (see the photo) in Nikko.
- Kyoto: Old capital city (between 794 - 1868) of Japan. Visit Kinkakuji (gold plated temple built in 1397) and wherever you like.
- Himeji: Visit Himeji castle that has been kept in it's original form for almost 400 years. It has survived Kobe earthquake and is registered on the World Heritage list of UNESCO.
- Toyota to visit Toyota museum(click here).
- Tokyo: Shopping! Visit Akihabara for cheap electronics staff (i.e. digital camera) or Ueno for Arai/Shoei helmet.
Traveling distance in Japan will take more time than NZ.We are going to use many express ways and all express ways in Japan are tolled."Express way" is not necessary to be equal to boring motorway and there are interesting winding scenic "Express ways".You pay for bypassing millions of traffic lights in Japan. 😀 Food: You will find that Sushi and Tempura is not the only Japanese food.If you are desperate, there are plenty of McDonald's in Japan, too.But don't worry, you will get food other than raw fish, as Neko doesn't like raw fish... 😛If you are interested, please contact us by 1st of June, as we will start booking accommodations. Please note that the cost above is indication only.Any further details, feel free to contact Dick or Neko.Contact to Dick

We'd probably be heading back from another part of the globe so our choices are to get into Japan about a week earliar or spend a little time elsewhere. We'll be in touch. Too many questions for email.Dick, as for raw fish, it hasn't been something I've been keen on so I may just have to carry one of those small hand held blow torches that they use in the kitchen for dealing to the topping on creme brulee. I wonder what the locals will say if they see that happen.Cheers - Des and Amy.
