Exciting stuff Gerard, looking forward to following the project with you. ;D
AnonymousInactive03/11/2011 at 6:57 amPost count: 10THAT looks like an interesting project 🙂I guess what's needed is:- lots of elbow grease- the rest of the bike - lots of patience- understanding wife / partner 😀You can do it 🙂
Thanks Guys- lots of elbow grease Yes- the rest of the bike Plenty of parts in the shed- lots of patience Got that- understanding wife / partner Getting there slowly As for plenty of parts I was after an R850 final drive the reason they are low ratio 3.36 : 1only problem was it came attached to this boGSer
I've got a nice shiney muffler for that in the shed if you're looking for one Gerard ;D
one would not be complete without one of these.
An update on this project. Its still happening. Good things take time. boGSer
Looks very impressive. Do you have some closeups?
Looks very impressive. Do you have some closeups?
Hello and thanks Alex, which bit in particular do you want a close up off I have it fully photo documented from the start.
It looks to be extremely strong. How do you think you'll go with the weight? I was interested in the steering head area. That swing arm pivot looks to be way stronger than stock. What sort of tank will you fit?
Alex, yes I hope it is strong enough. That was the plan I didn't mind sacrificing some weight for the extra strength After all I dont want any parts to fall to bits on me. All the flat surfaces are made from 3mm plate. The bottom pivot area is hollow of course. I am going to make a tank that fits inside the frame above the gearbox I have already made one out of custom wood and taped it together put a plastic bag in it and it will hold 15 Liters in there and I am planing on fitting the YZ tank on top which will hold another 7 Litres I am trying to keep all the weight as low as possible. Basicly that is the main frame finished Just a rear subframe to sit on and hold the mufflers (1100S) up.Just had a measure up on the old YZ frame foot pegs to top of the seat 570mm thats what I am aiming for foot pegs to ground 400mm me sitting on it should be around 850-870mm around about. Being able to touch the ground is over rated.boGSer
Progress is slow but it is happening
Reassure me that you have got your rear pivot angles right mate 🙂
Hello Colin, which bit worries you the most? ???boGSer
Just looking at the angle the final drive is sitting at, plus the difference in angles between front and rear cross'ess (I think thats a word mate) lower link should be the right length as it is standard to the rest so my thoughts are is the front pivot for the link in the right place?Or I could just be totally on the wrong planet with the thoughts 😮
