My understanding is that as soon as your unit has detected the Speed Gun its probably already clocked you. A GPS pre-loaded with stationary speed camera locations is apparently better value for money.  Sounds like you've been doing pretty well up till now.  If money isn't an issue you could try contacting the RAF they seem to have what you're looking for… Dec 17, 2007 11:49 AMPicked upon Reuters earlier today. Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick were involved in an unusual incident while checking for speeding motorists on the A1 Great North Road. One of the officers used a hand-held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was surprised when the speed was recorded at over 300 mph. Their radar suddenly stopped working and the officers were not able to reset it.Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact latched on to a RAF Tornado fighter jet which was engaged in a low-flying exercise over the Border district, approaching from the North Sea.Back at police headquarters the chief constable fired off a stiff complaint to the RAF Liaison office.Back came the reply in true laconic RAF style:"Thank you for your message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Tornado had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air-to-ground missile aboard the fully-armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment. Fortunately the pilot flying the Tornado recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status, and was able to override the automated defence system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed"So - what would be the fine on that one?

.. in the past i have used scanning eyes and a curious nature to keep me ticketless

Works for me. Otherwise I just pay up. Have had to do this once. I try to stay just below 120km /h on the clock which works out to about 110-112km/h. It's a nice cruising speed and it gets you there. That rarely stops me doubling the recommended corner speed, on worthwhile corners.Seriously, I don't consider it a tax unless it's unavoidable. Sorry, pretty long winded considering I have no recommendation for one of these detectors. apart from the one you've already been using.

Gidday New member since this morning  😀I have a Bel and the GPS speed cameras loaded and still got done on a speed camera a couple of weeks ago  😥The detector works most of the time though, ride with a guy with a 1150R who has a valentine 1 and mines goes off at the same places and at the same time so think it is as good.

Point one, don't forget that radar detectors are soon to be illlegal, penalties for use ramp up over the next couple of years till they're far higher than the speeding penalties. That being said, I've got an Escort Passport hardwired into my Monster, unit is buried in the headlight fairing and conpletely invisible, and wired to a 'screamer' unit that is audible at high speed! Package works really well, but just bear in mind, it doesn't make you invulnerable! I've used it for the last couple of years, and if it's taught me one thing, it's that you don't get much warning of impending doom! Example, pottering along a back road between Kumeu anf Waitakere, doing about 105 in an 80 limit, detector went off, I instantly rolled off and dabbed the brakes, patrol car came into view at the same time, he did a U-ee, I pulled straight over. Didn't get a ticket, pinged me at just over 100, he claimed to that he was being lenient cos the limit had recently been dropped from 100k's, but I know it was months ago, my view is that he didn't get a full locked on reading, I'm sure Steve B will be along shortly to comment!

I got a BEL RX65 from Carterton Ryan on Trademe for $400, and it works great.  It is one of the best rated detectors on Radarbusters, and it has saved me probably 20 times in the past 18months (K1200R – surprised?).  Don't worry about them becoming illegal, they've been trying to ban them for years.  Just get one!Dave

Having had a day to think about my ticket… im sort of thinking I will just continue to carefully break the law… after all 1 ticket in 70000k (maybe a third of it in that zone where you hope no one is watching) makes any kind of radar detector look like an expensive option.. most of my riding is on roads that dont see a blue and yella from one decade to the next… so .. on with life

Expensive option?  You ride a BMW!  We've already taken the expensive option.

Reofix,I use a UNIDEN detector (GPS9000NZ) with the GPS locations of the fixed speed cameras.  It detects amongst other, the KA and L bands.  It's about 4 years old and has been a good investment. I use it in my car and rental cars when I use them.  I get pinged when I come into a town when you are unaware of the location of the cameras.  I now have it mounted on a co-pilot shelf on my R1100RT as I commute around 120 kms per day.  I have it set in the speed mode to act as a second speedo.  There has been a notable increase in police activity as my KA band triggers a lot more than say in March.Cheers

I have had my valentine 1 for about 2 years and would not be without it. as for them being banned, if and when that happens there will be ways to hide them, if not available already.

I feel its a fair cop if you get caught with a laser gun or cop car. What I hate is the hidden camera vans.

I have hidden mine already since they talked about the posibility of making them illegal. Mine now resides inside my tank bag and still seems to work ok.That also made room for the Zumo to go on the bars 🙂
