Well, it has happened again. The brakelight is blown. However, this time a bulb change made no difference, so no WOF for me. Who knows if the brake light is on a separate fuse? Is this the most likely cause, or am I chasing a broken wire somewhere? I've been trying not to brake, so people won't see it's not working.

Alex, is it the same for front and rear brakes? I have trouble with the rear brake switch, just seems to need a tap (whack) on the PD.CheersIan

Hi Ian,it's front and rear, that's why I am thinking that it a blown fuse or a broken wire. Once the tank is lighter I will have a look.

Alex check where the wires go onto the brake light bulb holder as they are known to break

Thanks for that Darryl, I'll have a closer look at the wire.

My PD failed its first atemp at a WOF this week for a no brake light turned out to be the plug conector under the seat pulled apart and put back together and that fixed the problem

Pissed around for a while and then took the tank off to have a look at the fuse. Don't bother taking the tank off to look for fuses. Take off the left side panel first, it's right next to the battery. Sure enough, I need a 15 amp fuse. Nothing that a wire can't fix in the mean time. The trouble I go through to keep you people amused :-).

We may be even more amused if you come back to us with the report that your wiring loom caught fire after you bypassed the fuse !!!!!The fuse is there for a reason Alex and usually its because there is an issue somewhere that has created an overload on the supply...occasionaly though its just because a fuse dies of old age !!!!If you smell burning, stop immediatley and put yourself out first then deal with the bike Ha Ha

I thought they were just there for the entertainment value. Maybe I should take the pennies out of the fuse box at home.I had to get a warrant for the bike and then pick up a new fuse. The fuse wire hadn't actually melted, it looked as if it had vibrated off right next to one of the terminals. Anyway, it's all good now. Thanks for your input, everybody.

Funny how the WOF fairy always visits us the night before we go for a warrant….it's a conspiracy, the WOF inspectors employ people to come round and give you a visit just after they have sent you a reminder…..
