My Cruiser has a new rear tyre, 170/80-15. Traditionally, I had stayed with the Bridgestone brand, simply because that was on there before, and I never had cause for complaint; they served me well. But now it is wearing a Metzler – same size. This is a dearer tyre by about maybe $100, so will be interesting to make comparitive observations.

Hi Dave,I had Bridgestones on my cruiser when it was new and they lasted 11,000km, but I switched to Avon Venoms and have had several sets now [total mileage 114,000km]. I always fit them as a set and they have worked very well in all weathers, lasting 17-19,000km. My last set did 20,000km, but they were pretty worn by that time!

I paid $240 for this Metzler retailing at $279. My odo is 113,470, so we are about the same. My bike has been very faithful.
