Is there such a thing as a not-riding season?I guess if the snow is up over ya headlight would be a good reason to park up, but other than that?I dont like paying 5 lots of acc levy 3 bikes 2 cars so the bikes are being ridden on a rotational basis as and when required. It is now the ridding seasonboGSer

And I know exackery what you mean, because I have the same bitch: I have to relicense a small fleet of vehicles, yet I do most of my distance traveled in a year on a pushbike.Which is one of many reasons why, every year, I take the time to remind the incumbent Prime Minister, Minister for ACC and Minister of Transport that if they had one tiny weenie brain atom between the lot of them they would put all the levies on fuel, not vehicles. You can run a vehicle on the road in an unlicensed, unlevied, un-third-party insured state, but you can't run it without fuel. You'ld reckon a man could get a bit of traction with the user-pays Tories, eh?But no.

They breed them tough, in the winterless north :-). We don't need no stinkin' seasons....
On vibrations… I just seem to have the usual ones, especially around the 4000 rev mark. I haven't been able to find my twin max since we'e moved. I guess any vibration in the drive line would be bike-speed related and not be affected by engine speed. When I pull in the clutch all vibration goes away. I suppose the drive line would only vibrate under load, if it does vibrate, so that may not be a meaningful test. I am always a bit over-sensitive after any surgery on the bike.
Just Ride it Alex as I said the way the drive shafts are made now they can't be phased correctly as the used to be. As per the photo's on ADV it seems close enough is good enough. I think if it had real issues if you pulled the clutch in at speed you would notice it. As for the twinmax you dont need one. Buy yourself about 4 meters of clear plastic tube bend it in the middle into a U shape cable tie it to a piece of board about a meter high put some red auto transmission fluid in the bottom of the U up about 250mm on each side and then connect both ends to the ports on the throtle bodies. Start your engines and adjust to you hearts content. The worst that can happen if a tube falls of is you blow smoke out your exhaust. Safer than mercury and more accurate because oil is lighter than mercury. When you have the throtle bodies adjusted correctly then the oil in each tube will be sitting at the same height relavent to each other side by side. If they are miles out then it will get sucked up the side that has the most vacuum. Easy as.boGSer

Got the bearings from Motomart the local BM agent in Wellington and was surprised that they had them in stock and only cost $120 for the pair. Got very confused when I wound in the rh pivot bearing and the FD locked in place with the LH pivot out of alignment. Turned out I had to grind some metal off the front leading edge LH side on the FD as it was fouling. Once this was done it went together well. I usd a trick from Steptoe over on UKGSer of packing a rag below the driveshaft to lift it up to make fitting the FD shaft a lot easier once the two are together you pull the rag out.Now I have to get time to ride the damn thing ;DAdrian
Adrian well done, how do you like the ratio change? its great on the gravel.boGSer

Been busy sorting out LED indicators and missing high beam on SWMBO's F650GS and re doing all the suspension bushes and shocks on my Land Rover. But for the short distance I drove it is a changed bike much better at low speeds and for some weird reason gear changes are smoother.Adrian
