My Givi top box was smashed in the earthquake. Yes, I live in Christchurch.Today I fitted the replacement, a used BMW original. It came from a 2000 R1150GS, and is being fitted to my 2000 R1150GS. Sigh.I felt like playing a homecoming heartbreaking tune, as the "new" top box (10 years old, actually) looks fantastic compared to the Givi pretender. In terms of feel, it's like a piece of luggage, instead of a plastic box with mounting clips.Long live BMW luggage.I'm off to play some 80's or 90's music, and reminisce about stuff that mattered when I was young. (okay, not THAT long ago).

Yes, if I was going to start all over again I'd consider the Andy Strapz. But I've already got the Beemer touring panniers, so I wanted a matching top box.JR, I'll post some pics later. How's the Givi plate? I'm going off roading on the GS adventure ride in Nov, so my cossetted GS will no longer look spotless.Cringe.

Pics. Note the hand bag dog fitting snugly into the man box.

Hi PeterThe Givi plate is great. Thanks very much. Mum decided the tea towel was beyond redemption so it is now "workshop equipment".I was going to do some of the 30th ride in Nov but now going to Cairns for a week instead...tough choice! lol 🙄J.R.
