Yep, my wife and I use one. We can have a relaxed conversation at 130kp/h on the racetrack. I dont think it could be classed as waterproof so one needs to take precautions with that. If the volume is too high you pick up the background hash which I found disconcerting. Fixed by turning down the volume until the background noise is gone with voice still loud and clear. I cant attest to the longevity yet as we bought it in January and have done maybe 2000km together. I found it easy to install into our helmets (Shoei flipup Syncrotec and X8 fullface ). Seen below clipped onto the pillion’s belt. Battery life is not long, maybe 2 hours, which doesnt work for us 😀 so I bought the BMW accessory plug and fitted it. We plug it into the rear accessory socket on the RT. When I find a bit of spare cash I would like the Baehr system so I can use the mobile phone and mp3 player with fewer wires hanging about but it will haveto wait until I’ve appeased the bank manager!

Thanks for the reply. Maybe worth a shot as I think we have the same Bank Manager

I have just stumbled across this old post and am quite amused. Soon after writing it the Bikemate died ( I think the plug and socket combo were not robust enough ) and both Engel and I opted for Starcom1 Advance units which did well. My unit is still good but retired after 100000 km and 6 years since the first post on this thread, I dont really need it on the S1000RR, LOL. Also, by using a 5W Uniden PRS radio I could hold conversations with people who had no idea I was riding at 170kph at the time. (On the back straight of Pukekohe racetrack of course!) With a 1 metre antenna on the top box I could easily communicate up to 20km and more, line of sight.
