Hi all. I've been a member here since about November 2007 – but have only just got around to posting some info about myself and my bike. I am a “mature” born again biker – having purchased my 1986 R80RT in early 2007. This is my second R80. I previously owned another '86 R80 which to which I fitted an RS fairing, making it much more rider-friendly over long distances. My current bike is a US import – it now has over 124,000 kms on it. I have done maybe 6,500 kms since I bought it – all trouble free (touch wood!) – and anticipate doing many more kms – if not on this bike, at least on another BMW. Update: The R80RT was replaced in January 2009 with a 1989 R100RT which I spotted on Trade Me.Had a great ride down from Auckland to Invercargill over 3 days – love the bike – more power, better handling that the older R80.
